Any info about Skybus?

Out of curiousity, why do you feel so strongly about expressing your disgust, yet don't feel the need to try to convert?

I would think that, as strongly as you appear to feel about the topic, you would want to persuade as many people as possible to see the validity of your points. I guess I see it as a choice between drawing attention and drawing support. One does not necessarily equal the other.

Once again, your choice I guess. Considering the stakes involved, though, I just don't quite follow the reasoning.

And we come around full circle to where I started.

My opinion is that you could do a much better job of swaying airline pilot opinions with a less antagonistic approach. I don't have much formal training in teaching or motivating people, but I've been around the block a few times. My experience tells me that using degrading terms and belittling people seldom accomplishes the desired effect.

To be clear I'll give my opinion once again:

"Your message gets lost because of your delivery style."

(edit to add: last word is yours, I'm hitting the rack. :) )

Skybus, Allegiant, Virgin and jetBlue are cancers on the piloting profession and their pilots are the "Typhoid Marys".

Oh, hey guys...there IS something to see here.

Allegiant has now been added to the "proto scab" list of guys who are just ITCHING to cross a picket line. Pre-crime is alive and well, citizens!

I guess the truth hurts. Bad.

The reaction from the Virgin/jetBlue cabal says it all.

Not hardly. As I have said before, your opinion is inconsequential. You would defend your company, if you owned up to who that is, if subjected to ridiculous attacks.

More notable is your progression on the boards here. After you got booted from Airlinepilotcentral forums, you started out here in a much more civil tone. But soon your true colors come through showing you can't have a mature conversation without lowering to more infantile, "whaah those guys are jerks" style of posting.

And he claims he was a CRM instructor in the military. I guess "those who can't, teach", right?

FYI Fins......Velo is at Alaska....73 driver. It's been posted before....but I don't have the time (or desire) to find the post.

Good grief, what is this, the Sunni triangle all of a sudden? :)I'm going to have to propose we hire about six more moderators and do a troop surge to quell the violence.

It's has been posted by others that he works at Alaska but he has never said it himself. He knows what the point is. He feels free to bash anything and everything in his sights but doesn't put his own credentials on the line for himself. Hiding behind e-rage is one thing. Being hypocritical is another.

It all is pretty childish sometimes. When V tones down his posts towards my company (and generally anyone else with whom he disagrees), I'll be glad to hold my counterfire accordingly.

I think this whole thread was flamebait from the start anyway. Why not just kill the whole thing.

Proactive > reactive.

Positive reinforcement > negative reinforcement.

Two cryptic ideas that can be applied equally across the board.

;)

I don't think Skybus is that bad. I just applied there recently. I'm still somewhat "low-time" but they said they would hire me, and pay me 30k a year for the first 2 till I pick up some experience, then raise it to 35k a year. Only down-side is I have to buy my own Type-Rating, and its a 5 year bond. But still not that bad I suppose, at least I get to cut off 2-4 years off of flying small planes getting no respect at the regionals.

Just kidding.

hey hey mr. I didnt mean it, it was just a joke.... put that thing away, be cool man be cool.:crazy:

Because I am drawing support. From airline pilots. And, they're the guys whose opinions really matter in this discussion.

I like this Velo dude. He doesn't hold anything back and its funny, yet he's right. I don't have as much animosity towards JetBlue as he does, but I wouldn't work there. Skybus on the other hand......

Seggy and I were flying last night and we heard Skybus come over the radio requesting some kind of crap short cut direct to their destination. So without even thinking I just keyed the mike and said "Scab!" and Seggs just bust out laughing!! We thought Velo would get a kick out of that.

Ah, Velo is going to be so proud! :) Having met him, I can say he is a smart, witty professional who just happens to be extremely passionate about his pro-union stance.

Sometimes "passion", thru the magic of an internet forum, can be mistaken as another quality.

Also, viewpoints that may be beneficial for us all to hear can get covered like a viscous goo and short-circuited by the delivery method.

You see a man crossing the street, about to get hit by a car.

Do you:

"Hey! Get out of the road!"

or

"You obviously must be an idiot, why the *blank* are you in the middle of the road about to get yo ass "runt" over by a car? Get yo ignorant ass out of the road!"

Same message, different anticipated reaction from the intended recipient and more than likely a completely different outcome from the situation.

A good environment not only needs a good message, it needs an appropriate delivery.

Agreed. I'm just saying he's not the big, bad ogre some seem to think he is. Some people, such as Airdale even dig him! It's all a matter of perspective, I guess.

I don't think the site has any ogres, just that we have some people that need to start showing up to meet 'n greets so we can understand them a little better! :) I've probably met at LEAST 200, maybe 300 people from the website and I haven't run across a bonehead yet and I don't expect that to change.

I swore FL270 and JTrain were going to beat the crap out of one another on first contact, but they play together so well. I'd almost say they have a..... Bromance!

LOL!! The new kids on the block SHOULD get to a meet & greet. I'd love to come to one, but there never seem to be any in the NY area. :(

I'll betchya if you put up a M&G thread for the NYC/NJ area, you'd have a crapload of attendees! Remember, this is more or less ExpressJetcareers.com!

Oh I'd love to attend, but I'm not sure about arranging it. I'm sure I'd feel like a mother hen, though, since most of those guys are young enough to be my son. :D ;)
