Ameriflight

It's called competition, I believe.

It's called have some sympathy I believe.

Take you arrogant and sarcastic comment elsewhere. It's unneeded and shows your arrogance

With your attitude I am sure you will feel what it is like to be on the wrong side of competition.

Anyone that plays the ol' capitalism game knows they can lose. I have been on the losing end before, but I still didn't hate the players that beat me.
You want me to say competition is bad because somebody has to lose?? Sorry, I don't believe in participation medals.

This is why our industry is so poor. Defeatist attitude.

The contract was lost because Ameriflight was cheaper. Which is part of the reason pay is so low as a pilot.

The CEO gets another bonus, while numerous pilots will be out of a job in Albuquerque.

Listen, I'm not trying to be a jerk. OF COURSE I feel for anyone that loses a job. But this isn't the "woe is me" thread. This is the Amf thread, so please be happy that we are doing well, and I will do the same for you.

Those ABQ pilots will at least know a place that is hiring..

Of course, ABQ is EMS central, so hopefully they will find a better job quickly. Freight is a time building job, not a career. AMF's wages are nothing but motivation to get out.

And @Inverted this is not a good thing. Ameriflight underbids and may put hardworking good people out of the job.

Oh I said good for AMF. Since when has anything that has been good for AMF been good for anyone else? The success of AMF has always come at the price of somebody else's livelihood. BUT that is business, in a bidding system if they underbid, they underbid....They focus all the efforts in to spreading themselves thinner by opening more runs that will show they are way shorter on pilots, yet still continue to refuse any real QOL or pay increase that would attract/keep pilots. There are guys that will get a 500 dollar a year pay increase and throw it in my face like that makes any difference at all, they need to bring the payscale forward 15 years and give the employees a real pay raise, and revamp the way they do things.

Trust me @sn00p, it is hard to watch a company get richer while continuing the saga of being a bottom feeding company to work for...

There are several possibilities as to why AMF got these runs other than underbidding. In the past, however, AMF is rarely the lowest bidder. It usually comes down to service and dependability. Larger companies are better able to bring in additional pilots and airplanes when needed, and provide additional services that smaller companies can not. It is possible that AMF under bid it, but none of us know that for sure. AMF gets underbid quite a bit as well. Look at Montana with Alpine. They chased AMF out of the state.

For the pilots, there is a level of growth that can be achieved at AMF that is much greater than most smaller operations. It is pretty easy to upgrade to a turbine aircraft at AMF, and then to a larger aircraft. After 18-20 months, it is not uncommon to start in the Chieftain and leave with 750-1000 TPIC and a type rating. I believe AeroLynx did have one jet (not sure if they still have it) and a couple of caravans, but most of the flying was twin Cessna's.

There is no doubt that the pay sucks, and hopefully that will change (but I doubt anyone is holding their breath for that).

There's no SIC program for the brasilia. It's a paid position.
Sorry, that's what I was trying to to get at. Does AMF still hire for SIC in the Brasilia or any other aircraft? Their website indicated that they did for the EMB-120 but wasn't sure how accurate it was.

Yes. Buddy of mine just got a bro SIC spot like a month ago

Well since this is the exact same hook, line and sinker mgmt gives, I'd like you to give examples. Or are you parroting this?

Cool! Thanks. What were his times(hours), if I may ask?
I'm not sure exactly. He was in our SIC program, finished it, and then went to Air Cargo Carriers. About half way through their training he decided "F this" and came back to us as a paid SIC in the bro.
