AMERICAN HIRING June 2022.

Does anyone know of a good nearby crash pad situation? Are new hires able to rent rooms at the company hotel? If so, any idea what those run a month? Which ones are the good regular cheap apartments nearby? It looks like I’ll be commuting for a little while, but I won’t necessarily be going back home too often, it will just be a year before I can fully move due to life circumstances.

Company hotel is still being built. When it does open, it will be mostly for crews coming in for training.

The Pink Palace is right across the street from the IOC. Very cheap but safety is questionable. First year dispatchers can probably afford the new apartments on the other side of 183 across the bridge from the IOC. There are several apartment complexes in the centreport area near the old corporate headquarters.

Same! Definitely was wondering this myself.

The Palisades of Bear Creek have some decent one bedrooms. I would look anywhere Euless. Depending on how swanky you want your place, prices run about 1000 for a one bed.
Thank you, yes any suggestions are welcome. I will probably have to get a studio or even rent a room/Airbnb for a bit while still helping pay rent for family back home. May try to commute which I’ve never done. Gonna be a squeeze for a while, but I will look at those spots! Just want safe, preferably close and some amenities nearby. $1000 is far better than the $2000 that basic 1 bedrooms are running for where I’m currently at. Thanks for the info!

Anyone hear anything about firm offers?

Lots of people have fully cleared all the background check/finger print reqs but have heard nothing of day 1 instructions..

I received an email saying I’ve completed all pre-employment checks and requirements, and to standby for my hiring manager/ station to contact me about first day and badging. That’s it so far, I’ve heard it takes until about a week before as well.

I know it’s probably too early to ask this but… Anyone hear anything about another class after the October one? Could there be a November/December class, or would it more than likely just be beginning of 2023 before the next one? Asking for a few anxious friends waiting in the pool. :)

It depends on the flight keys transition. I wouldnt expect any classes until late next year and any classes after October would pose significant problems but we need warm bodies so its possible. I would expect a pause in new hire OJT from March to at least June as everyone currently here needs to learn and get comfortable with flight keys before training new hires on it.

you will hear something normally the week before class with times and where. Generally it’s going to be in the 8-4 Monday-Thursday since it’s payroll, meet and greets with big wigs, etc then week 2 is start of actual training.

but to answer general question, you will do training in IOC, gate Guard will have names yougive name and they let you in, front desk/security will do the same and your trainers will be there.. if it’s the same guys who have done the previous classes, you will enjoy class and have no issues.

Word has it that new emails are going out to those already in the October 3rd class. Dont be late boys and girls!!

The October class might be the last class that will be taught how to release flights in Sabre DECS. Currently, theres a pretty good chance that there will be some in the October class that go to flight keys class either during OJT or right after their domestic comp check.

For those of us that have been working on the desks that have transitioned to flight keys, it feels very much like going through new hire OJT again. Those that have been hired this fall will basically go through one OJT and then another.
