American Eagle Stuck mic

That is awesome.

I, by far, aren't the guard police and 99.9999% of the time ignore or turn the comm off. But when people lose their cool and start arguing with themselves about why oceanic won't answer them and, if I'm bored, I may give them a SELCAL check. :)

Around the last year or so, there has been a lot more anger on guard. Someone makes a transmission on guard.... someone responds "on guard" and an angry "THANKS DELTA" responds. What the heck? I can't remember flying with a guy that jumped on a call on guard on the first attempt. Even better is when they start going back and forth.

I love a good guard prank.... of course clearing someone to land or something that could get a violation is out of bounds, but a good "gate's occupied for around 15 minutes" or like the mx call is perfectly in play, but I'd love to hear fake selcal check!

After a few accidental attempts, I now always call ops with just my flight number and no company name. Why? So if I do call on guard by accident I can repeat after the
"on guard" with "Southwest ops, Southwest 1320 calling again for gate xx"

"YURRRRRRR on guard!"

"So are you, TRICK!"

I'm not sure what it is with UA guys, but every PA on guard I've heard in the past 3 years has been them. It is an epic shartshow of responses as soon as they finish, and never ceases to be 100% hilarious. I love when they tease us with failing to announce what company they are until the last line.

"come on.. come on.. who is it? who is it!" YES!!! UNITED!! We have a winner!!" (use the handset, guys... it'll save you a lot of embarrassment at some point)

Delta 836 did that out of HNL last week. I know... I know... They were probably northerners right?

You sure? The only way to make a PA is to press the PA pushbutton or pick up the handset. Selecting transmit is never possible to make a PA on an Airbus.

If you listen to a particular airline's ramp or 'special assist' frequency in JFK anytime from 1500 to 1800, you're probably going to hear facepalm-worthy tasty nuggs for hours.

Dude how about JFK ground. They ripped some tug driver pulling an airplane around a new one. I felt sorry for the guy after a while.

It's a 747 I thought. I have no idea but we got to listen to what the weather in ATL was while we were on final.

The 330 has run ATL-HNL-ATL almost exclusively for around a year. There may have been a couple whales in that mix...The 747 is much easier to make a PA on guard. It has to be a complete neglect of logic to make a PA on an airbus on an ATC frequency given that you can only press the PA button or pick up the handset to make a PA.

you got to love when the guard NAZIs break in without even listeining to what is being said, back in 07 or 08 when i was at C90 i was assisting a GA aircraft on guard that had been NORDO and was looking for a ATC freq that they should be on when we get the "you know you on GUARRRRRRRD".............DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

American called us "little" in the Buzzsaw yesterday. The peanut gallery quickly jumped the Shady Eighty's case.

(We are little. But you don't need to be condescending.)

On JFK "ops" it's whine-whine-whine and talking to the person like he's an idiot, not realizing that it's actually another pilot.

I saw this on APC. This is why some guys at United choose not to turn on Channel 9 for the pax in back:

This is a comment from this article:http://pogue.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/09/12/the-many-mysteries-of-air-travel/?hp

Surprised no one has mentioned Channel 9. United lets passengers listen to cockpit-tower communications, at least on old UAL metal. Not sure whether they will keep this or eliminate it (more likely) as they replace the fleet post-merger. There are many moments of openness including pilots angry at gate personnel (heard this at SFO once when we were kept waiting after being promised a gate). The most revealing moment was hearing a pilot repeatedly get our flight's identifying number wrong and have to be corrected by the towers. This happened more than once during the flight. I called to report it and never heard back from the airline regarding any actions taken. This is what makes me think Channel 9 will be dropped - too much liability.

I guess he didn't get a call back because they were laughing so hard? :)

ATC seems to suck anymore. I think its all the new people. I was told to call the tower because i was complaining about the service. The tower sup got short with me so i reamed him a new •. Told him i wasnt taking his crap and wanted the manager. Reamed him to. I think they forget who they work for. Havent had any problems since but im sure they are waiting to hang me if they get the chance.

BTW SLC is know for having the worst controllers

Everybody says that about every center/TRACON/tower.

Anybody can be having a bad day at any given time. Best bet is to make sure there isn't a safety issue and move on. Calling and yelling at somebody doesn't fix anything.

In other words, you were nasty on the frequency, you got a phone number, and you continued to be nasty?

Congratulations. The facility is going to paint a target on your back and if you so much as fart wrong, you're going to get a pilot deviation.

(How NOT to do it.)

Remember, everything is recorded.
