3 Checkrides scheduled for one day.

Citationkid, something tells me if you were a girl in the South, you'd be another Jon Benet Ramsey pageant queen.

Gotta love your parents for being so supportive, but jeez... Don't be in such a hurry to grow up. Go buy a skateboard or something and be a normal 14/15 year old. Aviation isn't going anywhere, it'll still be here.

Seriously, after nearly 23 years with them, that's one thing that really bothers me about CAP; we get these kids so focused on their future that they don't bother smelling the roses in the here and now.

You just like to entertain us, and thank you for that. Who schedules checkrides 2 years in advance. If he did infact schedule, i bet the examiner wrote it in pencil.

It was his idea........

Well thanks for the advice guys, but I'm doing it unless any thing major happens. I think in two years at the rate I'm flying I should be able to get it done. If I can't oh well. I'm not going to do any thing stupid. I'm not doing this as a publicity stunt, but because it's some thing I've always wanted to do. You guys who are calling all this BS I dont give a damn it's what I want to do and every one I've flown with says I should be able to do it. I'm already studying all the systems I can and if I have any questions I have a panel of experts here I can ask. Again thanks for the advice, but I'm going for it.

I was thinking the same thing.

Seriously, I dont think this should be looked at 3 checkrides, but rather getting 3 privledges in one day. With his experience, by the time 2 years pass, he should be well prepared and cranking everything out as if its second nature.

Being 17 and flying a high performance twin is like being 17 and getting with a porn star. Although it sounds like the best time in the world, you are just not ready for it - not necessarily flying experience but more life experience.

IMHO when 17 you should be with 17 year old girls, and flying trainers.

Didn't Jon Benet's parents kill her?? Sorry couldn't resist.

So CitationKid, just for kicks, say you go up for your PPL-ASEL and fail. DE lands the plane and says OK, give me my next $400 and let's see if you can do any better on the AMEL or helicopter. You gonna keep going or call it a day?

Yeah I understand what you mean, but I have been raised in High Preformance aircraft. It's kind of like the air force (I am in no way comparing my talents to 200 hour airforce pilots) that are flying jets with my time. I always hate when people talk about how I can't do things because of my age, flying wise any way. It's the experience and time that matter not age. That's like saying a 40 hour pilot can handle a multi because he's 30.

Thanks again for the continued entertainment, im bored tonite.

What kinda multi are you planning on getting your private in? Im assuming turboprop or turbocharged, right?

Yes and no. You also must earn life experience, which comes with age. In my mind quality life experience counts as much as flying time or other experience for other occupations. It will dictate how you handle yourself in good and bad situations and help you interpret and use the knowledge you have about aviation (or other skills) to the fullest.

I'm going to do my private in a 172 then later that day I'll fly what ever multi I feel comfortable in. The only one I even have a lot of time in is a Navajo, but I doubt the company would let me use that.

Philosophically speaking, the whole age and how it effects your psyche argument is a non-issue here. We're talking about checkrides, not entering the Army. Yeah, it'll be a busy day but if you want to do it, I say why the hell not. Just don't give yourself an ulcer in the meantime.

Go for it. If you have the experience and maturity level it should be no problem getting those ratings. I don't think I would personally go for it all in one day, but different strokes for different folks.

As far as age goes; if you are mature enough to handle the pressure, I don't see what the big deal is. I have a friend that was type rated in a citation when he was 20. He flew right seat for corporate and charter operations. I think he was the youngest in the country for a while. His dad owned an FBO and he's been flying since he was about 5. He knows the responsibilty he has and he is serious about his job. I know some 40 year olds that I don't think are mature or responsible enough to fly.

Thanks a lot. I heard there was a kid who's dad owned a FBO or charter company and went to Flight Saftey when he was 15 on the Bonanza.

When you are young you do not realise the whole age thing. As you grow up you start to see how it effects the decisions you make. Case and point - at 15 you can operate a car, but we will all agree 40 year old men operate them safer.

Because they have more experience then a 15 year old. If a 40 year old had never driven a car and a 15 year old had then that 15 year old would be better at driving. I guess you mean maturiety then. I'm not stupid, well some people think I am for trying this

, I would never go out and drink and fly or buzz a friends house at 20 feet. I read all the accident reports I can so I don't make any bad decision. Thanks for the advice though.

With all the same disciplined learning environment of UPT too? Somehow doubt that. Only connection is that you've had the controls of a high performance jet in your hands. Not knocking you, but just assuring the perspective is correct.
