Reasonable question, however both would seem to be a meteorological anomaly, at least anecdotally speaking. I'm not a meteorologist, but western OR seems to get a lot more ice storms, since we are so marginally "snowy" anyway, anytime Jack Frost comes to the PNW. It generally seems to come along on the back/immediately following a wider PNW snow dump. It's been about 10 years since the last good one, but my folks were basically stuck at home for several days. I remember another one in college maybe 20 years ago now, where I couldn't even crack the ice layer over the snow layer, burying my car in the driveway. I remember getting into an indoor BB gun fight with my roommates, and we shot one of the windows out like idiots

The one last December was but a small hiccup comparatively, though I did almost eat **** trying to walk to dinner (in EUG) from the in laws house
