PUBNAT3

I know your pain. I waited a week to the day and that's been the hardest part of the whole ordeal.... I though for sure I scored low 80's but ended up in the 90's. Once I took the test everything hinged on the score and that thought consumes you....

so what do you think was worse.. waiting for the at-sat auth or waiting for your test scores?

By far waiting for the test scores because at that point you know you've done everything you can and the rest of your life can depend on that score...

I think it was a different kind of anxiety, to be honest.

When I was waiting for test authorization, it was more along the lines of frustration. I knew they would "get around to it", but I just wanted the process to begin already.

Once on the way home from my test, it finally sank in. It was about me now -- not the inept folks in the office -- the outcome is now personal.

I know you all probably get tired of people like me complaining and I apologize but I should probably stop reading this forum because I just feel like such a loser after reading all your success stories. I can't believe I drove all the way to Chicago to only get an 84.3. I really thought I was better than that. This really is life-shattering for me. I am going to school to become a dispatcher and am doing really well at that, and I thought that becoming a controller would really be up my alley. I've never felt so wrong in my life. Good luck to all you who are going to do well.

Get your name out to the facilities you'd like to work at. Call them up and get a tour... meet some of the people. While we always say that you really need to be "well-qualified" to be considered, I don't know what they're going to do for PUBNAT3. If they don't throw you all in with PUBNAT2, you have so few applicants that they just might get to the "qualified" people.

I know it is easier said than done, but try not to be so hard on yourself. You still passed what I thought was a difficult test. If your heart is in ATC then stick with it. Don't let anyone or test tell you otherwise. Keep fighting until the very end. People still get selected with qualified scores. Hell, I barely made it with a 85.0 and I wish/thought I did better than that. My passion and desire is ATC and I won't give up until I turn 30 (which just so happens to be next year LOL). Anyways, keep your chin up!

I know I'm just some other stranger on a forum, but don't give up yet, if this is what you want to do. Give it a few more months of your best networking possible before you throw in the towel. Word of mouth and a recommendation can be two of the most powerful tools there are, maybe even more than 0.7 of a difference on a test.

hey don't get your head in too much of a bunch.. i'm going to let you in on a little secret. I think my pubnat 4 ap may have been 3 months short of 3 years of work due to a typo I discussed with an OKC rep.. which I corrected after the announcement closed so i don't even know if i'm going to get selected!!

It may or may not be an overbearlingly long process, but if it's what you want, do like I'm doing.. canceling my Final Fantasy 11 and World of Warcraft Account, stop driving my car everywhere, stop drinking at the bars, working more and saving money so I can afford to keep myself surrounded by and interested in aviation. I can't afford much but i'll be taking short lessons around my local airspace and trying to tour the facilities.

Stick with it, if you do it right you can make sure you're on top of your game the next time around.

while I finished redoing the bathroom (thanks to my fiance accidentally ripping the towel rack out of the drywall.....) ....

With women, it's never an accident. There was a reason she wanted you to redo the bathroom... the towel rack was just an innocent pawn. They're tricky that way. Watch them, closely! :laff:

Only the passive-aggressive subs. :laff:

The real chix just leave a note upon their departure:

"Morning Schnookems,
Off to work.
Can't wait to see the new bathroom!
I left you some -favorite food here-, incase you get hungry!
MUAH!"

Since you received an 85, might I ask how you felt you did on the separate test sections, what you think you got wrong, etc.? I'm trying to "feel out" my potential score.

I felt like I did poorly and I got a 46%. I still put 100 in my sig so I didn't look like a mental midget on the forums though.

It's not CAN use the 5 point pref. It's you ARE using 5 point pref.

And.. don't sweat it depending on your age you've got years to ace it. remember, this big re-hiring process won't be ending until after 2010

Aviation is largely about WHO you know, not WHAT you know. Networking is key. I agree, get your name out there. You still did well enough to get hired, it just might have to work a little extra, but it could be worth the effort. If its something you really want to do, DON'T GIVE UP!!!!!!

I finally received mine after taking it 8/9 in Lisle. 100. I can't believe it. They must weigh some sections more then others because I was positive I missed at least half of the letter factory and analogy crap. Hope things start happening faster for us.

Really I guess my score was indicative of how I felt afterwards. I walked out of there not knowing really where I stood, but felt that it could have been a lot worse than it was. Mostly, I was just trying to "think positive" thoughts so I would get a WQ score :)

I felt good on dials and angles. The scan I had not practiced before the test, but am good at 10-key so I felt that portion went ok. If what they say is true about the math bearing the most weight, I know why the 85. Math comes fairly easy to me, but for some reason I had a hard time figuring some of the questions in my head. Honestly, I think that is where my biggest downfall was.

***Well nevermind. This is how I felt, but I see you got your scores already. I dont know if this is how you felt. Dont give up. That is still a good score and with our group being so small you still might have a good shot!
