PUBNAT3

BX172, this should answer your question about vet points:

Vets Preference is used in Competitive Bids for jobs. If you served in the Military during certain time periods and are discharged Honorably, then you get a certain amount of points added to your application. Either 5 or 10 points depending on several criteria. Normaly the government, when they set out to fill a job vacancy, they pull all the applications together and score everything on your resume, so many points for this, so many for that, and so on, then the Veterans either get a 5 or 10 point bonus added to their score, and then the person with the highesst amount of points wins...... Now, as we all know, the FAA does not follow the rules, they make their own, so what they do is group all the Well qualified together and the when the boards meet, they flag all the Vets, and the files for the Vets get put on the top of the stack and get hired first.

That is a nice gesture Honu, but last time I checked, Spokane was a few miles from New Jersey:buck:

Nothing better to kick off the start of a new career and chapter in your life like a good cross country bike trip! You could hit up all the major ATCT's on your way and do some tantric meditation to the pulse of the tower beacons.

and.. well, it's sad, but given the way things are slowing down with the processing, you DO have the time. :D

it's pheasable!

if anyone is attempting to claim the 10-point like myself.. don't forget to fill out the SF-15 and send it in. I may have missed it on my Pubnat4 but it's required by the FAA to prove disability ratings and higher preference.

Definitions of Veterans preference points can be located here

Direct Link to FAA form SF-15 for 10 point preference herehttp://forums.jetcareers.com/www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/SF15.pdf
(MUST BE PRINTED ON BLUE PAPER)

some question still remains within me as to whether or not we are required to produce this document after filling out the PUBNAT or if we send it in after a later step in the process (I.E. after GeoPref, before PEPC or during PEPC...) I'll email OKC and see what they say.

Congratulations to everyone who's received their scores -- lots of good ones in our group, hooray. For the rest of us... guess we'll just be grinding on the Reload button, eh. I was on the 14th too.

For whoever asked about backgrounds... mine is actually in youth ministry, but about a half year ago I decided that it was time to move out and that this is where I want to be. So... there you go.

i'm just a 24 year old geek.. my background?

-USMC
-1.5 years as a call center supervisor
-9 months airport fueling/line service @ KCCR
-19.25 hours fixed wing

But.. well aviation has been very evasive to me over the years. Aside from struggling for independence yet longing for higher education I just haven't had the time or money between girlfriends and geographic moves to stay with it.

you'll do fine no matter what your background is as long as you've got your head in the game. And I'd even say you've got a training advantage coming from limited or no aviation experience as you'll have no pre-conceived ideas about the subject matter, you may even be a little more resiliant and pliable since it's ALL new to you. "A whole neeeewww wooooorrrllllddd"

oh.. after re-reading your post though I see you have an aviation background.. well get in line with the rest of us know-it-alls.

on the background...

I was a 9-1-1 operator for 5 years through school, then graduated with a BBA. I have been in the mortgage business the last 2 years. I do not have any aviation experience, but I have wanted to do atc for the last 6 years (I am 29 btw). Prior to the general public being able to apply I actually decided to get my alternative teaching certificate in elementary. I have it now and will teach if the atc thing falls through. I just didn't want to have any regrets that I didn't try before I turn 30 if given the chance.

I logged on ASAP this afternoon and there was no score but I just logged on 15minutes ago and just found out that I made an even 96!!!!!!!!:nana2: So now what do I do???? Wait for an invite for a PEPC??? Not for sure but I'll try to get a tour of a local facility. Congrats to everyone else who is finding out their scores.

I am sorry guy... that totally sux... the cutoff to being selected is 96.1 or greater! hehe, I kid, I kid.

CONGRATS! Good luck! God Speed!

OK, well congrats to all my fellow testers.

I was just curious if someone could post here (I know its all over but can't find anything substantial in one place) as to what to expect now.

I know there will be a geo pref e-mail. I know what a PEPC entails but can't find what it stands for, and I don't know what an FOL is. I have searched for the last half hour but found nothing incredibly productive for me.

Thanks

In 1-4 (est.) wks, we'll get an e-mail where we state two geographic prefs. If you select a larger state, you might have the option of picking a county, as well. There's a comment box to add more info, but we don't know how they take that into account.

After another month or so, the referral lists will be made of who is eligible for each state that you applied for. You'll be notified on ASAP if you made it or not.

Another few weeks after that, a selection panel of FAA folks will meet up in OKC and make their picks.

If you're one of them, in a week or so, you will be notified that you were selected for a position, and you'll either get invited to a pre-employment processing center (PEPC) or go the non-PEPC route, which are just means to finish all of your paperwork, have your interview, medical, psych test, etc., though I would strongly suggest the first route if offered. PEPCs are only offered in a few major cities, but they expedite the process immensely, because you'd have to complete each step at the pace of the government otherwise, instead of getting them all done in one day.

Hope this helps.

While I may not be much help to you as I am in the same boat, PEPC is for your pre employment processing center located throughout the nation in which you do all your testing in one day. From there, once everything comes back you will receive your final offer letter (FOL) for your facility then followed by OKC start date.

This is my understanding anyway. Someone please correct me if I am wrong as I am still in the learning curve of this all.

Has anyone from 8/11-8/13 not gotten their scores yet?

If not, then us 8/14 and 8/15ers might be tomorrow!

Thanks Ammolite, that info really helps. That's all I was looking for. Whats interesting is the way they post the scores. I had today off and spent most of it on here and ASAP while I finished redoing the bathroom (thanks to my fiance accidentally ripping the towel rack out of the drywall.....) and watched people getting their scores the week before and then people that took the test after me and mine didn't show until after OKC lunch time. I was getting nervous watching people that tested at the same place but a day or two later getting their scores before mine posted.....

No problem.

Apparently, as a few others explained to me earlier, we're notified of our scores by batch -- per date, and not location or anything. And the dates aren't necessarily in any kind of order, either. I'm not sure if this is true, but it definitely seems so in this case.

I'm so very anxious to find mine out, so I can end this cerebral battle between "I may have done well", and "I bombed it, I failed, and I need to find a new idea for an occupation". Part of me has this feeling that I might get an 83 or 84, a point or two away from being well-qualified.

I know your pain. I waited a week to the day and that's been the hardest part of the whole ordeal.... I though for sure I scored low 80's but ended up in the 90's. Once I took the test everything hinged on the score and that thought consumes you....
