Friday Emails

This is a good lesson for everyone. I am going to make an assumption the you were not happy with the facility the FFAA sent you the first time around (area, cost, etc.) so you quit. If this is not the case I apologize. But, the point is, your career in the FFAA is, hopefully, a long one. You will most probably NOT retire from the same place you started. Go wherever they send you, stick it out and eventually you will move to where you want to be. Do NOT, except under extreme circumstance, quit and hope to get re-hired, especially if you expect it to be done quickly.

Sorry to get off topic here. I went through alot of threads yesterday and would just like to thank you ATLtracon for the information and insight that you are giving us. It truely is appreciated.

Congratulations. You have been chosen for further consideration for an Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) position in a terminal facility in the state of Iowa.

I am in! The thing is I chose the Chicago area counties as my first choice and my hometown county in Iowa as my second choice. I have a contact at my preferred Iowa terminal so I emailed the Supervisor or Manager some info about me and asked if I could be selected for his facility. I sent the email Monday morning the week they were making selections and I never heard back. I am trying to get a hold of my contact this morning but can't reach him.

Do you think they would stick me in a terminal in Iowa that is in a county I did not specify?

They've put some people in states they didn't even select.

QUESTION-- has anyone received MORE than one email?

Strangely enough, I just got a second email! lol. I got the original email this morning, replied with my preference to commence with the non-PEPC route, and just got an email confirming receipt of my reply.

Not big news, but at least it's working on a relatively (relative to the govt) quick timeline.

I talked to Deena (Dina) in OKC. I guess at this point they are not going to be very helpful. She said she wasn't even sure if the emails were going out yet, but that they may do it by referral list or location and it could last a few days. Other than that she really had nothing more to say other than to continue to apply over and over again. There will be a PUBNAT announcement pretty much every month through September.

TGIF even though I heard that down there people are sucking wind.

Cmon ATLTRACON...I've read a lot more on here than I've posted, so I know your position and I respect it, it makes sense...but can a guy (or girl) recognize that his goal is hard to achieve yet still strive to achieve it? I could understand if the failure rate was 99.9%, then maybe Acey97's ambition would seem foolish..but being the 1 person to succeed out of every 4 people that try seems like a doable challenge for many... You don't always have to be so negative:rolleyes:

I don't think he is being negative, I think he is trying to give everyone a plan that gives them the best opportunity to succeed. If you start at a big facility and don't make it, you are fired! That is it, game over. A 75 percent wash rate is big. I'm not saying that Acey97 or a first officer or an airbus330 with a Columbia education wouldn't be able to make it, but with a 75% attrition rate, is it worth it? In my opinion it would be smart o follow his advice and learn the job and then try to give it a shot. ATLtracon is giving everyone what seems like great advice that other veteran controllers agree with.

Has anyone heard anything about California? I thought I saw somewhere one person got one for an ARTCC outside LA... but that's it... but then, there aren't many CA people on this board...

I neeeeed to knoooooooowwwww. I'm about to put myself in the Timeout chair I'm so cranky today with nerves on whether I will get an email today.

I got an e-mail yesterday for LA ARTCC.

ATLTRACON, how much a factor do you really think turning down a previous PEPC invite is going to be? I was told they would not hold it against you, but I guess you never know.

Well I just got my email and I'm pretty sure they don't factor where you live based on your choices as I previously saw somebody say.

First choice was ATL center

Second was Tower anywhere near my county in FL.

They gave me Center in Memphis TN.

So what can I do to stay in the game but not go to Memphis? Anything?

You can decline it and wait for the next PUBNAT I suppose.
