A couple of days for training.

I believe that with RAMS AIR you are expected to pay for your own Hotel. I'm not sure though. With the company I work for I don't have to pay for the Hotel but the per diem is not as good as it is for the companies that the pilots have to pay for their own Hotel.

The per diem should be enough for you to pay the hotel and still keep some change.

Right I understand that, but the offer letter said per diem is paid each day we're away from ROC...so since training is at ROC and most of us are coming from another state, I was wondering what we do about lodging before we launch. I know you don't work for RAMS specifically so I don't expect you to know, but the timeframe for training is helpful at least. Just wondering how much dough I need to stockpile before I leave...a few days at a hotel can add up quick.
 
I have family near Rochester, and my cousin goes to the University of Rochester and is going to let me use his car during training. There is plenty space where I'm staying, if anybody is interested in a place to crash for a few days PM me.

The company I work for paid my for my Hotel during training...that's all I can say!

Finalized starting date is Monday Oct 29 (starting early so get there the day before) and they are setting up hotels for training so hopefully it'll be some kind of cheap group rate.

I just booked my ticket, I arrive in the afternoon on the 26th. When are the rest of you planning on arriving?
 
Just talked to Carol. It sounds like they want to get us all at the same hotel so we'll see where that is and how much. She said training is usually about a week, maybe less but to plan on a week.

I am aiming to get in the 28th, but still debating a 10-hour, $50 train ride or a 2-hour, $160 flight.

A week is a bit longer than I expected.Hopefully they find you guys cheap hotels. The airports that they talked about basing at are a hour away from ROC.

Take the train.
 
I'm planning on arriving the morning of the 28th, but ticket prices are still pretty high so I'm going to wait it out for a few more days.

That's right...I wasn't thinking about that. The welcome letter said Rochester is where they'd be conducting orientation but since they just relocated maybe the letter wasn't updated for that. I will call monday and ask about that since I need to get tickets soon.
 
Well here I am late to the party!! Ive been hired at RAMS (Dont know my number) and im excited as well about the opportunity. Im a lil annoyed by the late start date cause I WANNA FLY. My interview was over a month ago and I still have a month left, but if thats all Im complaining about life must be good.

Carol said shes setting up a hotel so I assumed that meant they were paying but Im not sure on that. I wonder if we get paid per month or every two weeks. I think she said something about direct deposit so we should get it immediately on payday. But 2-4 weeks of food and hotel can be expensive so im saving up now.

I plan to get there late on the 28th. No need in paying until I have to.

I figured the hardest part would b not getting bored. I love scenery but after youve been working an area for a week/8 hrs staying alert may be the hardest part.

Good point. Im staying for the hours and bonus but it is a respect factor. Like my momma always says, do unto others....

For all those hired, PM me and good luck to you. Hope we can all get along for 7 months. As for me I wanna live cheap and save as much as possible. (except the occasional club/party in random cities) so I cant wait to see what happens.
 
Pay is 2/month (direct deposit), medical insurance was never mentioned to me. It'd have to be pretty cheap for me to want it though. I have worked without it for years now.
