I was looking to see if anyone had some information on Rochester Aerial Mapping Service. I've got an interview with them in two weeks and was hoping somebody had any tips or advice going into that interview.

I am very interested in this job as well. Please write up the experience. Is the interview held at Rochester, NY? Do you have to pay your way to get there?
 
I worked for Rochester Aerial last year and had a great experience. You will be expected to pay your travel expenses for the interview. Everything will be straight forward, it is more of an opportunity for them to get to know you a little better. However, there will be some technical questions and you will have the opportunity to fly with the owner of the company. No tricks on the flight normally just shooting an approach or two into Rochester. I know that they recieve a tremendous number of resumes so congrats and good luck! Just got back from interview. VERY nice people and straight forward. Have to pay your way out there but ROC is home for me so no big deal.

What did they ask you on the interview? How was the flight with them? Did they let you know if you got the job and what is your TT?

250TT Asked the same stuff as on the phone. They don't let you know right away. Johnathan asks his questions indirectly, lets you make all the decisions. I couldnt get up to shoot a approach cause of WX but I did a few x wind landings, wants to see if you can fly thats all.

*Duration is 7 months from late October to November.
*Winter months you'll fly up the 4hr/day and up to 8hrs/day during summer(weather permitting).
*No night flights.
*Some instr. flight if you have to reposition the plane.
*No vacations allowed.
*Will likely work during holidays.
*Bonus $$ at the end of the 7 month.
*They need 8 pilots. Seven have been hired already so get your resume in.

They fly 172's with computer controlled cameras.

They have 4 M models and 4 P models. The one I flew was a 150HP M on the interview.

7 already...that was fast.

From the interview it sounded like they were mostly in the Northeast last year. Should be fun in the winter.

She said they were going to call back in the next couple days to set up. I suppose if nothing by tomorrow I'll call back. She told me to call her cell with any questions. Just getting anxious having only one spot left.

Did anyone ever think that they might be providing you with misinformation on purpose? Just a thought...
 
I think he meant the amount of pilots they currently have and that they just need to fill one more position, like a "high pressure" hurry up and take this job tactic. Who knows? I really dont see a need for them to fib about hiring status.
 
If they told you that they only had one position left to fill then you can take that to the bank! These people are some of the best I have ever worked for and they will not jerk you around. Good luck to those that are still waiting on an answer.
 
Ok ok.... just a thought....

Unfortunately I know that this is a tactic that many companies do employ in order to fill the ranks.... or as a way of saying "thanks for applying and interviewing... but no thanks."

I didn't try to imply anything about the company... I just thought it was a little odd that they would give you that type of info.
 
as of right now i'm going up next wednesday for an interview w/carol & jonathan. can't tell you how nervous i am, so if anybody who had worked there previously had any tips on how jonathan flies, or how they ask questions in the interview that would help me out a bunch.
as for the 7 slots filled, i havn't heard anything about that. as far as i know they've sent 8 people up there, and the 8 people are the ones getting the job thus far. so who knows, as soon as i know something though I'll post it on here.
 
I am going up Thursday and they said I'd be number 7 or 8. He told me that a couple had backed out (wife /girlfriend said hell no to 7 months) earlier so that maybe where the confusion about open slots left came from. As I understand it right now every slot is now taken up presumably both of us two get it when we go.
