UUUUUGHHHHHH today was a huge mess

....... If you want to follow what JEP and angel are saying go ahead but who are you gonna trust a guy in the business or somebody trying to enter the business?

-Farva

A guy in the business, telling you to keep it in house and don't tell your dirty little secrets....Please......

and then

....The union cant protect you and niether will your fellow pilots because you were running your mouth about how some guy made a mistake or how this place you are at ,sucks. The industry is not fair and only those who dont complain and dont disrespect there fellow pilots get ahead while those who complain, faulter and quit the bussiness after a few years because they cant take it....

The union can't protect you.......Only those that don't complain get ahead......Sounds like you have a ton of experience in this field.... :tease:

How could I have stayed over break? Housing was not an option. I have no one to stay with. I am from Seattle. I would of had to pay a hotel 100 or so a night to stay. I would have considered that if I was close to finishing. I have always taken full responsible for my block exams. How ever, I feel like there is a huge flaw in the way UND assigns students to instructors regardless of how many old students they have to finish. It is crazy for my instructor to have 9 students under his belt.

they don't offer interim housing for 17.00/night on campus anymore?

You and Southgater need to stop taking every negative thing said about your precious UND so personally. You're acting like he's criticising you personally. If anything, it should make you realize some of UND's flaws(and there are many) and try to turn some things around out there. Not flip out with threats and terrible, false advice. ZUKO hasn't named any names, so what's the problem?

the only thing this thread has done is re-affirmed that if i am stuck in a workplace that wants to hush-hush everything, squash dissidents, and is 100% consumed with groupthink.... PLEASE SLAP ME UPSIDE THE HEAD.

bringing problems to light is the only way to improve. some people really need to get motivated to improve and move forward, not just play grab-ass and reinforce the status-quo.

(note: these are GENERAL statements about my personal views, so dont get panties in a twist over it. but really, ask yourself, is that the kind of place YOU want to put your work and effort into? )

Your attitude is completely pathetic, flawed and ignorant beyond belief. You are an insult to all of your coworkers, not only around you, but in this industry. You should get rid of that attitude right away. Your type is what makes the industry and world fail. You will NEVER get anywhere with that attitude. I have no idea where you are from, but the mentality you have will get you nowhere. Become a sitting duck, stay shut, don't complain about anything, become accepting of everything and you're up for failure. People like you are the ones who get taken advantage of.
The only thing I can agree with is to respect those around you. That is key.

Now, I honestly don't know why you brought up my name. I don't remember offering anyone advice. Feel free to quote me.

Thanks for defending me guys. I am sooo tired. Long day. Hey Jason? Did you fly the Seminole today? I thought I heard someone out there that sounded like you making radio calls but I could be wrong. Some Seminole landed right after me as well.

I had a really good flight and finally got lesson 13 done. Now just to wait to get a stage check pilot. I love my new instructor. He has sooo much more time for me and lets me have a lot more control of what I do.

I am still 99% sure I am leaving UND after this semester. Its my last chance to get out and I still do not like how the system is set up. The quality of the program is not worth taking four years to do what I can do in a year. I want to fly more then 2-3 a week and not have so many breaks in my training do to crappy wx. I feel like I will get more hours, a better experience, faster at a part 61 school.

I am likely going to finish the 102 flight lab a month or two early. I hate how I am going to have to take a month or two off from training until the summer semester. And what about the people who want to go home during the summer? Its just not worth it too me.

I do not post here ever to bash someone/something. I posted this thread to exchange my frusteration and to get feedback if I was looking at the situation wrong. I appreciate all the advice I have gotten while posting on JC and my sole purpose of spending time on these forums is learn. With out JetCareers, I would be blindly following UND Aerospace like a lot of the rest of young students.

Oh and another thing. People under rate the frequency of your flights. How many days in between your flights are a huge factor with my progress.

It is hard for me to carry over what I learned from a flight if it was a week before.

Thats why I am really excited to go to an FBO. I rarely want to go more then 2 days with out a flight and will fly several days back to back especially on weekends.

Did you have a Semi call up ground right after you did? And then was told to follow you? If so, that was me :)

I think so. Tower told us to get on c2 immediately because Seminole was on short final.

My launch was about 3:30 and we got back around 5:30 or so.

I was in Sioux 57. It had an inoperable trim control and com1 didnt work. Oh fun.

Nah, I was flying from 7am till 3:30pm.

The airplanes here are pretty good for the most part. It helps when you have a larger fleet that’s practically brand new. And, I’m sure we have connections with Piper for parts as well as a large inventory of spare parts. Just wait till you go out and rent from somewhere else… and you’re flying an ol’ 172. There’s nothing wrong at all with flying an older airplane (assuming maintenance is kept up on it) but, old airplanes do show their age

Yeah thats one thing I am expecting. I am a little bit concerned about getting too dependent on using the GPS. Will take a little bit of adjusting.

Man I just checked aims and after todays flight I have already spent 6300 or so. My private is going to cost me around 10 at the least.

Yikes. Oh well. At least I am going to have some extra time but it comes at a pretty high cost.

Egh...true that! Those old airplanes definitely show their age. Faded buttons, bad upholstery, etc...
Though I'd still rather fly those old airplanes in nice scenery, than new, fancy, lovely airplanes in the flattest place on Earth.

I think just a change of scenery is nice… That’s why on vacations I like to go some place and rent

Wasn't me... I was working. I wish I was flying though!
