UUUUUGHHHHHH today was a huge mess

Yeah I am going to just go through all of the.

What would it take to get unstaged in the oral?
not know your name. easiest one at UND. after the 14 (15 when i did 102) i didn't pass both parts of a stage until my 325-103. stage checks suck, they make them much harder than need be and just ask piddly #### you don't need to know to be a pilot

not know your name

lol.. I wouldnt go that far.

Fears about the Stage 14.
Taxi to the wrong runway
Cant find reporting points and get lost
Get lost period
Forget to hold 70 knots before taking out power and starting stablized descent in power off stall
Forget to wait till 63 knots to applying full power in the power on stall

<-nervous

do you have an airport diagram on your kneeboard? if not get one and put it there. check the 102 lab site for one. if they say you can't use it, then screw them and find a new stage pilot. there is nothing wrong with using a diagram to be a safe pilot. you could also request progressive taxi if you get really really nervous (but i would go with the diagram method myself)

I have one small one and one big one but I usually glance at the small one but I really use the big one. I just have to figure out what direction we are facing in relation to the map.

label it if you are unsure. seriously how can they unsat you for being too safe? you can also orientate it in the direction you are currently facing to help with situational awareness

i attached the 2 i used. until i knew the airport really really well

Your right. I just need to use my head and realize that if we are facing North on Charlie ramp we are facing 26. And to the right of us is 17L. ETC. The planes will be facing N or S.

I've always have had good luck with leads as stage pilots. Regular flight instructors, not so much. I think they just don't know a good flow for a stage check yet and after being through CFI, I understand why. It's just another thing as a CFI, takes practice to get better at. Sucks for the guy recieving the stage check though. :)

To this day, I still have to think for a second when taxiing from charlie ramp. North feels like south and vice versa whenever I'm on that ramp for some reason. I don't get that at any other airport I've been to either.

Maybe it's magnetic deviation of the brain from the buildings. haha :D

Some stage pilots have BIG egos and like to make you feel like crap if you don't know the answers to VERY trivial questions completely irrelevant to flying. Think identifier D.... And I actually passed his IFR oral.

I am trying to figure out what I need to know for 91.213. The review says I need to know how to use an MEL. All 91.213 talks about are restrictions of use.

Like: You must have the MEL on board with the FAA certification with it.
What can not be listed on your MEL.
Aircraft needs to have information of operation with inoperable equipment.

eeek. I need to get that book Foltz was talking about. I think it was FARs explained.

One key part of 91.213 is inop equipment without an MEL - 91.213(d)(2).

Another thought: have you gone to the Aerospace Learning Center in Odegard for a mock oral? It's free and would probably a good study tool for you. The students there are CFI or CFII applicants so it's also good teaching/evaluating practice for them. I highly suggest it.

If they're even available. Last semester the CFI availability was pretty limited in the tutoring center - not sure how it is now.

Believe me...the tutoring center has had lots of CFI students working it lately. Usually we don't even encounter one person seeking help the entire shift -- it is usually just a bunch of CFIs hanging around talking. It would be pretty exciting if somebody actually came in needing some help! :)

Passed my oral today! I will post a full gouge later. :sarcasm::rotfl:I was sooo nervous writing the emergencys. I got them all pretty much right but messed up the order in one. He asked me Emergency descent, Engine Fire in start and Engine Failure in flight. Then he asked me the 6 traits of a stablized approach. I did not really know exactly what those were. So I put some characteristics of a stabilized approach and showed him that I can find it in the stan man. I then nailed the V speeds. He then asked me a few policy and procedure questions, No airspace questions except concerned GFK thank god. Had me do Weight and Balence.

I feel like the flight tommorow will be a lot harder for me. Who ever suggested me buying that poster on the Aerostop is my new best friend. That poster is exactly what I needed. I feel like a lot how I do tommorow will be on if I can get myself in the right mentality so I do not loose track on altitude and remember what to do.

After I clean my room for the stupid RAs here I am going to chair fly my flight a couple times and draw out my airport entry for Warren. Then I am going write on a notecard a list of things I dont want to forget. Like TIPS. Like Heyheyhey Justin watch that altitude or just write 73knots to remind me to keep by 73 knots on power off. Or I will just write "Carb heat doucha know?"

I must pass this flight. I already just put in a launch for Saturday and then hopefully the sim on Sunday. My instructor who is AWESOME is free all weekend.

So if I get 14 done tommorow, 15 done saturday, 16 sunday(sim). Then I am hoping to solo by the end of next week. I want to finish before spring break. Basically I have decided that I am not going to go on Spring Break if I am not finish with my training. Pray for good weather tommorow afternoon.

It is sooo amazing what a new instructor can do for you. I feel like things are starting to finally click in the air. I think this is also because that my breaks in flying are decreasing.

Still going to leave UND after this semester regardless of what happens the rest of the semester. Only thing that would make me consider staying is if ASU wont take me. And if they wont take me now, they will take me after I get that F out of my GPA from ground school. I think I will apply to fresno state as well this weekend as a backup. Both schools took me straight out of high school.

The easiest way to remember these if you forget on a test because of test anxiety...my 102 instructor taught me this.

Engine Fire On Start...
Sheeit Man, There's a F---ing Fire!

Engine Failure In Flight...
F--- There's More Fire Here!

...you know what the letters stand for from your checklist.

Haha Thats greast. I have a feeling I am going to have to do an emergency descent tommorow. I havent done those in a looooong time. I hope I get something easy like electrical fire or Engine Fire in Flight.

You mean engine FIRE flight right?

I've always known it as "F$#k The Mother F$#king Heater". I like yours better though. There used to know a really really nasty one about electrical fire I think. It's been a long time since I've heard it and I was so scared of accidently saying it that I never mememorized it that way. Electrical fire is easy though.
