Stay at Atlas or leave for AA ?

Sun Country made a serious push for that A330 contract after successfully realigning themselves as a 737 cargo hauler for Amazon. They didn't get the widebodies, but the word in the ACMI world was that they were in the running right up to the end. Not as pie-in-the-sky as it may seem.

Especially in a world where A330/350 passenger airlines have their ears open to cargo contracts lol.

Most of those in PHX are AmWest Airbus drivers. There will always be a reluctance to change fleet types without a pay increase. Just like ORD Airbus is junior to 737 and 737 is junior to Airbus in CLT.

I just flew with a former Atlas pilot who said getting into/out of position for his trip wasn't included in the 17 days of work so it was really 19 days on.

Yes, that can happen. It is very very rare for me. Most of my trips start with a deadhead to meet the airplane somewhere other than the base, and I finish out of base and commercial home. So my days on are usually less than what's on paper. That being said, the 747 is a different world.

What are AA’s plans for PHX? Is it still pretty senior with the 73 being a category there now? Asking for a friend of course 😊
I was hired 5/22 (I’m not the junior 737 CA, missed it by 100 numbers).

In PHX, on the Bus, I’m bidding 48% in the right seat. (Top 33% are still senior AmWest FOs doing nothing but Hawaii) On the 737 I’d be bidding 5% in the right seat as of now.

Next 5-7 years a large percentage of AW folks are retiring. I think PHX will trend more junior once they are gone.

:bang: So many ragrets right now. Being local I wish I had tossed that app out when everyone said to do it. Now idk if the juice is worth the squeeze.

Still lots of retirements and growth. I’m only 70% in my seat, but have amazing quality of life because I can drop most of my schedule and just fly broken trips. I’m on one right now. Leg 1 DH, Leg 2 1:50 flight, 12 hour overnight, Leg 3 DH home. Sometimes you can DH home the same night and get paid for 2 days while working 1.

agreed...I'm 51% in seat in the mothership and pretty much get exactly what I want (can't seem to get those ANC trips yet)

I can swap most trips out for something I want ...I can rarely get swapped for a shorter trip but that's usually not my goal, better credit and overnights is.

just gonna sit here till I can hold WB FO (although I've interviewed for the FO Instructor position so that is my goal right now)
