Oh Alaska(n)

That’s the danger with publicizing openers. Pilots will expect that, plus more and if they don’t succeed, well, it just extends negotiations.

A TA somewhere between the company and ALPA’s opener gets turned down, the negotiating team will resign, some “We’re gonna get everything and MORE!” negotiating team goes into position, stalemate, rinse, repeat.

We have those at my pilot group that demand everything be reported play-by-play on the internet, others that will write nastygrams to the negotiating team and the MEC with personal demands, it just brings out the weird in people.

Hell, I have a really good friend on our negotiating team and I dare don’t bother him with questions. We just talk cats and science fiction.

maybe negotiating team can be in your future…..

I’m not friendly and I don’t like people THAT much! :)

People who don’t like people, don’t become Ambassadors for the brand. Logical progression was LCA. Next is chief pilot for the base. Your OPR bullets all show you to be the fastidious, social, people person that you are. Definitely promote!

HAND SLCTD CDR'S FIRST CHOICE! 2 OUT OF 15 LDRS. FWD TO CMD FOR EVAL. SOLID CANDT! CRUSHD ASYND MISS'NS!

I've never met a people person who was good on an NC. Great NC members are people who are nerdy about contract language, who don't get pissed off easily, and who can be diplomatic at the table. I think you'd do great.

If I can’t occasionally Will Smith people, there aren’t enough beta chain blockers in the world to deal with a committee on that level! LOL

That was actually really well written

Talking to the vs fishing lodges we serve.. everyone downstream in the tourism business has a epic year of bookings and are now nervous that it is going to turn into a epic disaster with cancelations.. let alone them changing the KTN schedule like 3 times over the winter.

Every day I’ve checked last week, including today they have canceled 30-40 flights. Affecting nearly 3000 passengers. It seems like a terrible way to destroy a brand. However if you hate pilots that much eventually it’s going to come back to bite you in this hiring environment.

Looking at reserve staffing a little later in April things have gotten slightly better staffing wise. However two friends who are FOs senior to me have told me they have a class date at Delta and have not given notice yet. They cited all concerns noted on this thread as their reasons for leaving.

It is spoken for all summer moving Sea Pilots for the cruise ships. Two years with no ships so they haven't been able to train anyone new, meanwhile people kept retiring. Plus we are anticipating your old shop over promised what they could do JNU-YAK for them and will pick that up too.

The company canceling upgrade classes doesn’t foster very much goodwill either. My sim partner was a new hire and has a Delta interview this month and a Southwest one later on. Attrition is only gonna get worse. Standby for the summer of cancels!

Our union ask seems pretty reasonable and the only way to get the operation back on track.
