Oh Delta X

Don't think airline tickets say gender on them. Would the kid getting the free tickets from mom even know? Or is this a TSA problem?

I don't remember the last time I bought a ticket on anyone other than Delta but they definitely do ask you for your gender when purchasing a ticket.

just looked up posters employer to purchase. Seems to be a TAS requirement. This lady is barking up the wrong tree.

I don't do 121 , but one story I read claims she thinks some other airline has the "X" choice.
And a commenter to one story speculated maybe the standard weight calculations and only have the 2 choices is the way their system is, and no option available?

Regardless, I bet she asks for the manager pretty regularly

Thats the thing. Its a TSA requirement so if one airline had it you would think they all do...... "I want to speak with a supervisor..."

TSA at RDU had a teenager come through who was listed as a female on her ticket, but was a biological male. They were allegedly ordering a backroom strip search because their machine was programmed for a female and picked up a bulge. I stumbled upon the tapes when I was searching for something else in RDU's files.

Easy to sympathize with both sides here.

Man. Worst case scenario. I’d be mortified if I had to enforce that.

Thank you. That is good information to know. So we have one carrier in the entire world (that has been mentioned in this thread) currently offering this option when booking a ticket… I still think the persons anger is misplaced. They have the option of traveling on United and I am certain United would love to earn that business.

Negative.

American has the same options as United.

Delta is the only airline of the big 3 that doesn't have this ability.

If you can get a Real ID with your gender listed as X the TSA and the airlines are going to be in for a world of hurt from discrimination lawsuits if they don't revamp their systems sooner rather than later.
