The first time I saw this van pull up to our plane, I thought “that’s weird, the freighter doesn’t usually do international stuff...”
Then a dude jumped out with a couple trays and ran up the stairs. Now I bring my own snacks when I’m flying the freighter.

During a staff meeting, some hubbub on the ramp had some eyebrows raised. Not even the "oh god what are these figures we're all listening to, stay awake" kinds of looks. Turns out, as a friend of mine sent me the video, UA had a light APU fire after their SFO arrival. The bird lived to fly down to Orlando (Orlando?) yesterday for a new APU installation (Why not Newark?).

Continuing the theme of seeing transportation's active relics, I got to experience the Verde Canyon Scenic Railroad recently and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Sedona AZ region.
Some serious history in the branch line, including two of the only 12 General Electric FP7s left running in the country. Built somewhere around 1953, I think the guide said.
While it used to be a coal town from the WPA/Roosevelt era, Cottonwood's rail line runs dried cement up toward Drake AZ, where the BNSF picks up whatever is produced, and exchanges those hoppers for empties.
The weather didn't get much sunnier than overcast and rain, but who cares on trips on a whim?
