Skywest Questions

I had them leave me a voicemail with a vague "call me back" and nothing else included. Anyways, when they call me again another time 25 minutes later (still have nothing built), they say my show time will be 2 hour callout from the first time they called and left a voicemail. Then someone last week told me they have to say "2 hour callout" or actually post the trip for your 2 hour clock to start running.

Maybe I don’t understand 121 at all but....shouldn’t this be painfully obvious?
Eh, it would be really funny if someone bought a Jitterbug and listed that as their number just to be a pain in the ass.

One of the funniest things I ever saw (because it wasn't me) was when my roommate dropped his phone into a manhole while he was on reserve. Somehow he managed to fish it out pretty fast, but the look on his face when he realized what just happened was priceless.

Yes, but sometimes people are just idiots.
One of the most interesting phenomena in human behavior is the person who is hard wired to find the hard way, when it's so much easier to just do the job as agreed/required and drink beer.

"Hey man, it's all right, it's all right here in the SOP and policy manual, easy!"

Describing most of the 91/135 pilots I’ve worked with. 121 is so much better. Only a small percentage reinvent the wheel.

I don't like it, but IF CRJ CA pay was one rate like the FOs, I MIGHT consider voting yes if the rate was decent, but it's not so I'm probably not. Gonna have to do a more thorough read later, but that's my initial pre-coffee thought on it.

No QOL improvements (putting the IPads as a victory from SAPA is shady). 130% if awarded over 87hrs will be an easy fix if you they cap PBS at 86 Hrs. All leftover flights will be given to reserves with their 40k bonuses.

I mean.... Back when I was getting CN'd to 97 hours an 86 hour cap would have been a definite QOL improvement....

Honestly, a hard cap at 86 hours would have made my life as a line holder much better, as that would have meant two to three extra days off per month considering the inefficiency of the trips and the fact that I was being given 95+ hour months whether I wanted it or not.

And if that means reserves get more actual flying and less time sitting around doing nothing, again, to many people that could easily be seen as an improvement as commuting to reserve only to sit around in your crash pad for four to five days straight doing nothing but maybe one local isn't exactly a dream job. Sure, when I was sitting reserve at home I flew very little and was extremely happy about it, but when I was commuting to reserve doing nothing all the time was killing me.

The 1% annual increases in the last few years of the "TA" (I wonder how long before TG reminds us it's an amendment?) will irk some, as will the potential for up to $40k new hire bonuses. But at the same time the profit sharing stays for FOs and the promised amounts increase and the 1:2 duty time guarantee being paid off actual duty and not just what was given in PBS will prove enticing to some folks.

I do like the addition of "[a] duty period, which is modified by adding an additional leg(s) and is originally scheduled to credit minimum daily guarantee (MDG), will credit the value of the additional leg(s) in addition to the MDG of the duty period." Not exactly solid reroute language but would have given me a few extra hours pay the time or two I got shanghaied by crew support since they always happened to occur on MDG days where I was an hour or two under 4:12 to start with.

It does seem silly that RJ bragged about the iPads being a QOL victory, but then again, watching the reaction from some guys you would have thought that the iPads were manna from heaven. Had they not been trapped inside planes I know a few guys who would have probably taken to dancing in the streets when they got the news. But then again, over two years later and my Surface works fine, and outside of connectivity issue really doesn't cause me any problems.

I have a good guess as to the probable answer, but until they can explain why FOs deserve the same rate (and hence same soft time pay) regardless of type but CRJ CAs still get hosed with three different rates and soft time paid at the lowest rate regardless of which type you fly the most, it's still probably gonna be a no from me.

After we were REPEATEDLY told by certain SAPA reps that the iPads were not part of the negotiating.

I am confident we would have got iPads no matter what. If anything the days are numbered for the Jepp app to be supported on Windows OS. Eventually FlightView would have to be ported over to iOS and the IT department is probably smart enough to realize that every year they wait, the cost and effort to do that would go up in a non-linear manner.

Regarding the TA it definitely is a better deal short term for a junior FO like me. That being said before I would vote yes I want to get some analysis from senior captains at the other end of the scale. I'm not just voting for me but for the group as whole and I would recommend everyone do the same.

I'd take that any day....

But the Q&A states PBS won't be touched. If it is great! If it isn't, great!

My initial thought was good, but after looking more I'm leaning towards a no. New hires get 40k and they can raise to $5 across all FO'S at any time. So the ball will definitely move to their court.

Looking at CA scales, by 2020 we are already behind Republic by nearly $10 in every scale. I get incorporating the bonuses and "boom, magic!" we are paid more than everyone but just pay scale alone.

Nothing for commuters either which I was told is being negotiated on the side? How can I trust that will stay true if this is a yes. The raises past 2018 are dismal again. My two comments to SAPA last vote was take commuting seriously here and at LEAST above Republic 2019 and beyond.

The duty on actual and bid 87 credit are great things I'm happy about. I think it's close for sure. Either way I still think it's going to pass. Just my opinion on it. I'm still close to the line of yes, but these were my main concerns as I gave it some time.
