Skywest Questions

It does seem silly that RJ bragged about the iPads being a QOL victory, but then again, watching the reaction from some guys you would have thought that the iPads were manna from heaven. Had they not been trapped inside planes I know a few guys who would have probably taken to dancing in the streets when they got the news. But then again, over two years later and my Surface works fine, and outside of connectivity issue really doesn't cause me any problems.
Lucky guy.

I had taken to filing one ASAP a week about the EFB and its various and sundry connectivity and stability issues.

Agreed. No vote until they give us Endeavor-equivalent rates or better.

I will voting no also. Even though I don't think that we will ever be able to get Endeavor or any rates. We can't compete with big daddy Delta can we?

Buuuut, what they could do is work on the QOL issues. Honestly I'm making enough money(ish) but when I can't get a day off when I need one, and have zero schedule flexibility... This isn't about parking spaces, It about being able to have a life outside of flying 4 on 2 off, 6 leg days, min credit trips, coming home completely exhausted. Can't trade, can't drop.

"We'll talk pay now and QOL later, thats a separate issue..." Yeah right, This is the ONLY time that we've had any muscle with the company. They want this new hire bonus, they need it, lets not waste our leverage.

Ask anyone who has been here awhile about the company history of asking for favors promising to pay us back later. "Deal us an ace" was the old saying.

If it passes I won't cry, it is a substantial raise for me, but I'm still voting no.

Nice little message from MT today saying they won't come back to the table if we vote no again

I think that email pushed many "on the fence" voters to a decision. Not necessarily on the side that was intended by the author.

Cutting through the noise, this TA was much better than the last but there is room for further negotiation. Mostly future COL adjustments for the more senior pilots. I intend to vote as if there will be a major recession/terrorist attack/me just not getting the call after 12 years, etc., and that I could be senior captain in their shoes someday. There is no reason not to have some more negotiations and come back with a 3rd offer that includes this and some QOL improvements.

I think that can happen as we are not that far from a good agreement now, but maybe that's just the relentless optimist in me. We are going to live with the next agreement for a long time so lets get it right.

Last time we voted no they said that they have "no interest in any further pay discussion"... And less that 4 months later look who is back at the table.

To paraphrase what the email: This is our Final offer! Take it or leave it...
If QOL must be attached to pay then it will take a long long time

Yeah right, don't bully us with this language. Sounds like a sales tactic to me.
This is the last one, I can't guarantee this price tomorrow. Limited time only, buy now!

What is the company going to do if we vote no? Just settle in and let the job market decide what happens.
No flow, lacking pay, and a disgruntled pilot group ready unionize, just in time for hiring and attrition to really hit the fan...
They need to not only attract new hires but the most qualified applicants.
I could be wrong here but I think that we've got a little bit of leverage left.

Actually they don’t care as long as they warm the seat.

Extra sim and gross amounts of IOE, along with orders (plural) of magnitude more TRBs and Pilots on Special Tracking...

Based on what I'm reading the people who were on the fence and read the threat email swayed them to vote no. Hilarious.

Why can't I just vote without getting bombarded with emails everytime? Especially threats this is the last proposal. I wonder how our shareholders would feel about that.

I have to say the email didn't help. I was already leaning "no" as I am growing ever more tired of the nonsensical games played by management on what are easy, inexpensive fixes to real issues for the pilot group.

I thought the offer was a reasonable one, I certainly could use the raise and initially leaned yes, but claiming iPads or cancellation hotels as benefits is analogous to negotiating nav database updates or extra holding fuel in the pay package. It's silly, shows a complete disconnect, and frankly smells of arrogance when the COO writes an email claiming take what we give you or else-we can talk later about simple improvements found at virtually every other airline later. Well, clearly we can't, as we are still waiting, the answer until good faith is shown is no.

If they’d get out of San Jorge every so often, they’d get how palpably pissed most of the system is.

I think that this one will pass 70% yes to 30% no. I have not met or spoke with one person who is against it.

The usual FB cranks and a few senior (20+ yr) captains have expressed displeasure but overall not too many no votes out and about that I have run into. Many of the guys I know who were dead set against the last one are confirmed yes votes this time. I don’t necessarily see it passing that well, but I doubt it will be a close vote either.
