Question is, who will be eligible to run against RJ? If I remember right only the top couple people in SAPA are able to run for prez....all of which need removal.
Any rep can run. I guarantee the next president will not be from the old guard. That is, if we can get more than 10% to get off their ass and vote.

I don't think the VP results were by the bylaws either. I think that's why people don't vote. Not because their lazy but because they have no confidence in the program itself. You lose the confidence in your group when you've exposed that you don't really represent your voters (pilots). Many feel "what's the point" of voting, it won't change the overall outcome.
Look at some of the new reps. Not even 2-3 months in, their platform for election was drain the swamp, get people who will stand up for us in. They even STATED what they believed in (pay contacts, new hire votes, work rules, etc). Come vote time for reps... Those same new reps vote AGAINST what they told us they'd vote for when they ran, literally if not a few months prior. We saw this on the pay package when they openly stated "I voted to present this to the pilots, but I don't agree nor think it was what we deserve"....??? Then say they pretty much felt threatened if they didn't vote yes for it, that they would walk away. So let's give up all our leverage over scare tactics and everything I believed in and promised to my voters last month?
Honestly, I sympathetize with the non voters in elections more and more. I saw my votes win in elections, only to do the exact opposite of what they told me they'd do when they had that position. Essentially just like our politicians for either party. We just have no more confidence and don't care anymore. Which is also why I don't understand why there isn't a larger majority pushing for a union? Then again I think it's the group of pilots who get off work, don't care about the aviation world, don't care about company news, just tell me when I have to come back to work.

I take no issue with them sending a pay package to the pilots when negotiations are at an impasse. A no vote from the pilots is much stronger than a no vote from SAPA. It is up to the pilots to vote this POS down. If it gets voted in, then you can't hardly blame the reps. They did their job.
I don't sympathize with the no voters at all. If you don't like what's happening, be an instrument of change. You can't bitch if you don't participate.

You're right a reps job is to present us a package they feel adequate enough for the pilot group to see. Right? Well if a new rep runs and tells me that he won't let me see anything less than we deserve, he will vote no until it's worth our while, then just a couple weeks in presents me a pay package and says "I think it's BS, I think we're worth more and I'm voting no. BTW, I voted yes by company pressure we won't get more and you guys 'wanted to see something' so here it is. Let's all vote no", I'm going to be a little upset. For 1 I voted you in to say no unless it was what we deserved. We have a lot of leverage right now in this climate. Why waste that? 2...the more patient we are the better. 3... This company has a very bad voting habit of voting yes on literally anything that bumps their pay just a little, with standard propaganda or a promise from the company. All 3 of those things that Rep knew, until it was time for him to vote, and management essentially pushed his vote yes, even though he knows "we deserve better". So why even pass it down the line to us?
You can't change the people inside a program that doesn't work and expect it to work. I vote and participate in everything they give me. I don't really get upset anymore when I see elections with 20% participation. What's a new rep going to change at this point? In just a few short months people will be all over the internet to impeach whoever the next guy is.

If "contract" is voted in, you guys can still do an ALPA drive. It's not either or, FYI. In fact, if it's voted in, hopefully, that is the push that is needed to really kick the drive into high gear.

I don't think ALPA is interested if we vote yes. That's the way I understood from the group talking to ALPA currently. They are waiting to see the results.

That would make sense. Why go through all that effort when a majority has affirmed confidence in the status quo by voting yes on what is being offered now.
I have no doubt that this question has been brought up before, but how do we even know that the vote results will be fair? The vote takes place on a SkyWest server and is monitored by both SAPA and SkyWest IT. Surely most of us see an underlying problem with this? I do not understand why our pilot group puts up with that in the first place. There is so much conflict of interest with how things are done here.

Well we did vote no back in 2015. The company came back with something slightly better a few weeks later. So this gives me confidence that we can vote no again and the company will honor that. Of course we have a whole bunch of new guys now.

Granted, I'm not talking to people in Herndon very frequently these days, but that doesn't sound right. Such a thing has never been a consideration in determining the viability of an organizing drive in the past. The size of the OC and their enthusiasm and involvement is what triggers an organizing drive.
