Voting opens tomorrow everyone. Let us all motivate our colleagues to partake of it as soon as the window opens and give a strong shoutout to SGU that we will NOT accept this concessionary payscale that is a gigantic insult to every pilot has ever labored or is now sweating and toiling for chump change on property!! We will not accept concessions in this environment! No reduction to block override for CRJ drivers and we want bonuses left intact for everyone, FOs and CAs alike! We want SAPA to renegotiate this package and give us something respectable and worthy of the airline pilot profession. Tell your friends to vote NO for the sake of everything that we have ever worked for.
 
So when can new hires actually vote? Is it the day they step on property? If so, this is very concerning to me. I have no doubt guys in the training department will be pushing these “huge raises” to new hire classes. I wouldn’t put it past them if they walked them to the computer during a break and showed them how to vote yes. I know some chief pilots that have done this in the past. If you’re going through training over the next couple weeks, please educate our new hires!!

SAPA changed it so that newhires cannot vote until after completion of IOE. This change will not affect much of anything though because as we all know, most newhires after IOE will still be in their honeymoon period with the company, and they will vote yes most likely because they will not know any better.

The most aggravating factor is that the pilot group overwhelmingly wanted newhire voting to be restricted to a period of one year after DOH and SAPA shamelessly disregarded us and allowed newhires to vote after finishing IOE anyway. They do whatever they wish, whatever will benefit the bottom dollar of the company, not those they are supposed to "represent".

Well that’s slightly better than day one I agree with you. While I think most of our reps feel the same way we do, I think there is some serious under the table things going on. “Vote this way or plan on having a little trouble getting through your next CQ event” sort of thing. Not to start a conspiracy theory or anything, but I know this has happened before at other shops.

There has been a question put forth to hold off voting until near the end to prevent the knowledge of how the vote is going. This is because a few SAPA people (and I think one person in IT) can see the vote totals while in progress....

Yes, please join! Pro company, pro ALPA. Don't hide. The group just displays interest for ALPA, you don't have to be on the committee or anything. It's not an anti company page or bashing the company bitch fest. Since the vote last summer we've gained 400 people in the group. Tell your friends! It's a great group with a lot of information. If you're remotely considering ALPA!

On another note I polled and contacted SAPA when I was less than one year in, that I didn’t want to vote on the TA.

I still voted no, but what confuses me are the ones that don’t vote. Participation seems to be at an all time low.

Most apathetic pilot group ever. Unfortunately it seems like a lot of OO pilots only really exist in their own little bubble. If things are going well for them, they really don't seem to care about how things are for their fellow pilots. Incredibly frustrating, there really is zero solidarity within the pilot group.

Very true, and I chalk this lack of solidarity due to the fact that we are such a large airline dispersed over a large geographic expanse; each domicile's pilot group is virtually an airline unto itself. A pilot based in Atlanta hails from a different background and mindset than a pilot located in Fresno who has flown for SkyWest for possibly thirty years, while the former might only have worked here barely three months. This situation is immensely favoring management since it makes it harder for us to relate to one another or even to establish regular communications with ease.

I think that someone said it best already, the most opportune time for us setting up a union has long sailed into the sunset.
 
I can understand the pilot group being divided and different people wanting different things out of a contract, but for anyone to vote "yes" for a pay amendment that would give ANYONE a pay cut is a travesty.

Some are voting yes just because they are tired of the "complainers" and talking about this pay package. They've openly said it. Absolutely pathetic and immature.

I don't understand out of all the pilot groups I've seen why we are like this. I agree with the post above, we are all in our own little bubbles. People will continue to make fun of us too, and we deserve it.
