Skywest Questions

new hire here with few questions about typical schedules on the e175.

Excluding standups, what are typical:

legs per day?
duty hours per day?
AM show times and release times vs PM?
Number and lengths of sits throughout the day?
qualities of junior versus senior trips?

any or all of the above info would be appreciated, thanks

Depends completely on the base.

Is this the wrong time to tell you that one of the SkyWest CRJs I traveled on this week reeked of what can only be described as "cat piss?"

Heh, when I was looking for crashpads/apartments I had WAY better luck with the actual bulletin board. Never got a peep on the sapa forums.

You mean this board????

Once you are bidding you will receive an email from your scheduling rep that will outline all those stats. You can also go SWOL-PBS-Pairings and view the trips for each base and AC.

In regards to your question about jr vs senior trips: Senior trips have fewer legs, shorter duty days, start later, finish earlier, sit less, and pay more.

Thanks. I guess that means on while reserve on has little to no influence on their schedule (i.e. AM vs PM, preferred days off, etc)

You're kind of open to get anything on reserve, but you can bid for reserve lines. You can find lines that are AM or PM reserve with the days off you want (usually, you have to pick one though). Or long call, but this is all subject to seniority too. Best bet if you want to travel is find reserve lines with days off that flow into each other (say a reserve line with 3 days off at the end of month 1, then 3 days off at the beginning of month 2). Wish someone told me that sooner!

I know it probably varies by base but how long does it take to get long call reserve vs. short call reserve?

I'm second from the bottom in my base and am on Long call this month. I bid weekends on though. But don't worry any time they don't have a trip for you they'll convert you to short call... and still not use you.
