So much for the "Your (Delta) application must be 40 pages!"

2.2 GPA or something like that. Partied my ass off but still have a degree from a really good university. Finished in 4 years. Got hired at B6 and in my interview the guy asked me,"2.2 GPA? What were doing?" Told him straight up, " Had the best 4 years of my life but now I am in the next level of my career/life." Next day got the job offer. This might not have worked at other shops but hey, I'm a happy kat.

Would have worked for SouthernJets!

Just tell your story. You didn't get defensive, you told the truth which helped validate your other answers.

He says he had an applicant at a career fair say something like "I only have a 3.3 GPA from UCLA and it took me 5 years to complete my engineering degree, so I guess i'm a 'tier two'"

whutwhutWOT?! So many things wrong with the above statement! :)

BWAHAHAHAhahahahahahahaaaaaaaaa

You guys are the ones that spread that jive! :)

There is no way I'd have the balls of steel to say that to a Delta pilot recruiter at a career fair. I would think at that point, the applicant has just...........

I always wanted a UPS interview simply to have the following exchange:

"Why do you want to work at UPS?"

"Well because UPS has the same slogan I have: What can brown do for you?" :D

If they can't laugh at that, I probably don't wanna work there.

Well, it's a school dance.

You can sit against the fence like Jimmy Dean with a smoke waiting for the pretty girl to walk over, or just walk up and say "This my SOAAAANG gurl, go on wit' cho bad self, lets boogie".

Neither of these techniques were effective for me. Of course, women find me completely resistable, so all techniques are ineffective for me.

Ok, so for someone reason there isn't a general "how to get hired and fill out applications" thread so information tends to get spread out and there really isn't a good bucket to dump questions (is there?) so I'll just ask here.

So, I just finished Upgrade training and want to reflect my new position on airlineapps. Should I just put under currently employed by dis airline as FO and Captain, or would it be better to put dis airline - FO as a past employer and dis airline - Captain as current employer?

Over thinking it? I'm trying!

If you add it as current employer and have the FO position as previous employer, that will add another page to your app. One closer to 40 pages! ;)

Obviously I don't know the real answer to the question.

Who says you have to go to school first? I self-funded my aviation ratings at a mom and pop school back in 1991-92. Did the traditional CFI'ing, night freight, and finally earned my first gig in the right seat of a Sabreliner. I've been corporate/135 ever since. I've been slowly banging out an online degree which i'm enjoying immensely in a separate field. I'm doing school second...I started to fly first...Excuse me Delta, but It will have taken me 26 years to graduate. Just a different order. :)

Like Jefe says, there's no magic formula, just tell your story.

As to the upgrade question, I was professionally advised to change position(s) held from "First Officer" to "Captain, First Officer". I also added the upgrade course to my "Professional Development" under education.

But then again, I still haven't been invited to the party...

Myself and others appreciate your advice man. Doesn't matter who the name are your paycheck currently is. Although, I fully expect that to change very soon.
