I think it is entirely possible that Joel Osteen's mere smiling countenance may trigger a nuclear apocalypse in Juneau, yes, and that could cause Delta jets to have to go around on their LDA.

But...I've never been a 121 pilot or flown in Alaska, so I don't really know.
 
Having worked in the special airport qual area at suthn' jets, Juno (tee hee) is nothing new with its critical terrain and environment. I routinely landed in quito at 9300 feet in fog after flying 5.5 hours in the middle of the night with very high surrounding hills and one crazy missed approach. They get the challenging airport thing and know how to teach it.

JNU is being taken very seriously and the way we are operating into there initially is actually unprecedented.
Ya flying an approach is flying an approach. I'm sure most people can look at any plate and fly it.
The little sidbar me and pat were having there was about some airports (military) that make juno* look like jfk and don't have approaches that I can imagine being authorized for 121 pax. But still anyone can look at the plate and fly it.
 
It's ok when Delta wants in to KTN they'll find gate space there too. And lord help you guys when they want in to KLW...

Funny that some of you guys mentioned KTN. I just got a pop up on icrew telling me that my SAQ for KTN is expired and that I need to go look at the pictures. True story.
 
In other news I heard Deldah is starting service to Mars. Wonder if Marvin the Martian has anything to say about it? Think they can get an RNP approach approved through the MAA? I bet all that red dust is terrible for visibility.
