Union says the company will reduce pilots by 47% by parking 59 ERJs and transferring 47 CRJ 700s. Currently 2,700 pilots on property, with the cuts they will only need 1,470 pilots. I can't imagine this is good for pilot hiring, nor good for the pilots there, especially on the bottom quarter of the list (assuming it is attrition by flow to American). It seams there will be a displacement bid soon.

Good luck eagle.

Without a timeframe it's kind of useless information. It also says "reduce pilots." That's kind of a vague term. I bet the timeframe is pretty far in the future, at least for the transfer of the -700s. Nobody can eat up that many planes that quickly.

Not really the end of the world and here is why, first we are only about 2,600 and that number is going down by 50-60 a month. We have 50-60 more leaving a month than we have new hires. So two years to get down to the 1,400 number at the current rate and keep in mind Delta and United haven't really opened the flood gates. I can see the number going to 70-80 by the end of the year.

They are lying thru their teeth. I'd love to see who can handle E175s and CRJ700s. Even if it's multiple carriers, all of the cheaper carriers out there can't handle that much lift. Can't believe regional management is still trying the scare tactic angle

I would think they are going to follow through with this. The CR7 shuffle is a surprise but the E140 parking is not, and the E175s werent ever a guaranteed thing anyways. Perhaps they shift these CR7s to AWAC or PSA and swap them out one for one with the CRJs that no one wants.

PSA...can't staff

AWAC...contract ends around 2015 or so. No long term agreement on those 50 seaters so a swap would not be as advantageous as it was for Delta who had long term 50 seater contracts with Skywest Inc. AWAC labor costs are more Eagle so the cost savings aren't there from a pure transfer POV since AAL owns the planes.

The advantage is theyll have pilots who need a plane to fly. Im only speculating, but it appears someone other than Eaglvoy will do it.

I wouldn't be surprised it Compass got the first 20 175's.
All the info I have points to them,TSA and maybe Skywest depending on what happens with the Bro and Delta 200s being the only pilot groups that can pick up the planes. Compass would be a good fit for the first 20 as my understanding is they have a full pool and were staffed for 117 ahead of all the other airlines. @Nick or @amorris311 is my info on Compass right?

But wait, this can't be! Charlie said it was a bluff, and he dropped the mic like 58 times! :sarcasm:

Got to wait and see if it actually will happen as stated. I have no doubt that their EMB-135/140/145s will start going away and will likely be replaced with some mainline aircraft and the new E175s.

The CRJ-700s will be hard to transfer if they want to keep them going. All the cheaper airlines right now are stretched thin or under-performing. Summer should be interesting to watch.

Have we heard who is going to get the 60 E175s that they were dangling in front of the Eagle pilots?

I think we are hiring to fill a pool now for classes this fall. I believe the last class is June and is full. I'm brand new so I'm not sure of our staffing but I would guess we're appropriately staffed if not over staffed for FO's at the moment. Could be wrong though.

I belive we (Compass) have stopped hiring for flows and have started building a pool again. It would be tough, but I bet our training department could pump out lots of new hires again soon. Part 117 didn't affect us like other regionals because our schedules were mostly complaint before Part 117 took effect. If we did get any of this flying, this place would be a cluster for the next year.

Our contract is extended. They have admitted that much. We don't know for how many planes or for how long. They are trying to use this 2015 thing as a scare tactic until the last day to get around meaningful negotiations. No one is buying it anymore. We have 70 seat rates but nothing else. I doubt they could bring on a bunch of 700s with no advanced warning to our union. Our contract doesn't really support that anymore.

This announcement part of the whole ".....or else you will be the next Comair if you vote no..." management comment from that last vote?
