You can put a caravan on floats or take it into something not even considered a runway.

Nope, the Caravan is still a much more interesting airplane. Plus, as has been mentioned earlier, you can put it on floats!

I've seen the Cessna material from their Caravan RG project. It added a ton of weight and removed the pod, which of course kills a lot of the appeal of the airplane with severely reduced load carrying ability combined with only a gentle bump in cruise speed.

Apparently FedEx said no and that was that.
