Republic to fly for American

What's the prospective bases when the AA flying starts? Will it be the usual DFW, ORD, and MIA?

BBs official comment was ORD at first, then possibly "other east coast bases in the future." No mention of DFW, but... Parker (who I believe will be the new CEO post merger) also officially commented that he prefers Eagle's growth and stability and mentioned this whole deal might die. If it does happen, planes wont start coming online till summer. Truthfully Im notbanking on anything... I don't fly the 170 anyways, and want a pay raise more than a 170 MIA base. And even more than that I want a call from JB, United, Spirit, or Atlas. :)

Rise above!

What are you guys hearing on your end about Horton's comment to the WSJ about the deal now being in doubt?

I may have read it differently but I read Horton's comment as something like "hey man I just work here!" And people are now saying "see!? The merger DID just undo what he did!!!11" There are so many things that could negate or void that contract...we'll see.

My thoughts exactly...... Parker has a good hold on RAH here..... If he can't get the deal cxd and that's his desire well then too bad your current USairways flying won't ever be renewed...... BB I doubt will cause much of a fuss as those 38 E175s are exempt in the MOU and in my mind have a home for "life" now under this MOU.

So is that 5 more aircraft that will stay active in the Republic fleet plus the new aircraft coming in for the AA flying?

There are no Republic aircraft coming offline. They are just reducing the count to 47 because Air Canada couldn't get the 5 175's ready in the time frame that AA wanted.

Ah got it! That makes sense. Sometimes us rotorheads are a litttle slow catching up with all the info coming out :D

Where will the 175s be based for AA?

ORD at first, then other "east coast bases" possibly in the future according to the CEO. Which isn't a big deal since ORD is already a CHQ 140 base (which the contract extended for another year) and is pretty senior which means a lot of senior CA's will probably jump over.

I was wondering if CLE was going to transition to them as well.

Well, considering CLE is only a 145 base and is for United, I doubt it. More than likely you will see it in DCA, LGA or JFK (possibly a MIA base). Of course, I'm sure BB will try to put some of it at one of our crappy outstations like CMH or IND.

I thought they also did AA Flying out of CLE. Guess not. I heard they were going to be increasing the size of this base.

IND and CMH are fathoms better then LGA or JFK, I don't mind DCA, good overnights, but terribly expensive

CLE is going to be one of the next bases to close as United is slowly winding it down. It is becoming nothing more than a focus city and CLE is only a base on the CHQ cert.

CFIT: IND and CMH are horrible bases unless you live there or live in a hub to make it easy to commute. I will give you that they are hundred times better than commuting to PIT, GSO or MCI. The problem, on the Republic cert, is that we have 5 out stations bases to support 3 hubs, 2 of which are already bases. You would see better quality trips and more commutability if they actually used the hub basing model. I bet once BB realizes he can get most of the senior people to leave if went to hub bases, the outstations will close overnight. (The rest rules may force that anyways.)

I see some of your argument, except the horrible part, they are decently easy to get to from most east coast cities. They are dirt cheap and as for the shuttle side, the trips are pretty good. (lots of 4 days with overnights everywhere) (unlike LGA where it is mostly day trips)

But I do agree with the "outstation" basing BB will try to, but IND will NEVER close because of managment and its shuttle's largest base....making CMH the only true outstation base.

I'm talking in reference to the YX cert only and as for commutability, its a two leg commute if you don't live in a hub city and its even worse with some of their early starts and late finishes.

As far as IND, I wouldn't say never because there are other regionals that have lost their company's hq as a base. BB will do whatever he can to cut costs. A easy way is to close a base like IND which would ruin a lot of guys QOL that live there, who also happen to be the most senior (highest paid) guys in the company thus getting them to leave. Its basically what's happening with DEN closing for the 190; those guys are bailing quicker than everyone because their qol has taken such a hit. Every time I fly with a former DEN guy, they have already accepted a job somewhere else or have an interview coming up. The IND and CMH guys all seem to be perfectly content to stay where they are.
