Are you seriously trying to say that the streets of America are just as dangerous as the Reno Air Races?
How many people have died on the roads "towards" Reno in the last 5 years? I'll go out on a limb and say a tad over 17.
By the way... If you want to argue, let's argue with my exact statement, not the words you want to put in my mouth.
You're comparing one apple to several train loads of oranges. This is what you said:
The question....the ONLY question...is going to be: Is it more profitable to put the show on, or to pay out potential litigation, following the fallout of this accident? That's it.
.. and the answer to that is the end of Reno, me thinks.
It seems more and more areas of life are becoming ruled by the concern over litigation. Where does it stop? Why does society allow this addiction to a pseudo safety net of insurable risks so that someone can get paid when something bad happens?

Well, there goes that. A half hour worth of posting by angry pilots and the intern turned off the ability to post to the wall.
It just so happens that I have a Vegas trip coming up in a few weeks...
Wait, wait, wait, the races should be cancelled why? Because some spectators, spectators who knew and willingly accepted the risk, were killed? No way.
You buy a ticket to a game you are accepting the risk of getting hit by a baseball, hockey puck, or someones beer.
Not sure if posted yet and don't want to speculate but it looks like this has happened before but with a much better outcome:
