SkyWest Hiring FOs

I went through an interview last week and they said the first available EMB class will be March 28th. If you want the jet, I heard April or even May. It doesn't seem like they are very sure actually when class dates are for what.BINGO!!!!!! I just got a conditional offer today and it was to fly the CRJ. So now I'm all confused. Still waiting on to hear about a class date.

Couple more questions: can reserves pick up open time on days off?

You can pick up open time but you can't use sked + to do it. You have to call screw support and get them to add it to your schedule. Also it can be difficult just because your on 5 days at a time and you can't work more than 6 in a row so to find a local that won't be illegal is not that easy. But it can be done.

If you get the chance take the first class offered. Don't skip over several earlier Brasilia classes just so you can get the jet several months down the road. Don't be afraid to take the Brasilia. When all is said and done you will walk away with better stick skills for flying it.

:yeahthat:

The best thing I ever did was accept that change on day one of Ground School...yeah it was a little stressful since every one had already learned limitations for the a/c they were hired into (including me), but flying that airplane was a real blast, and the crews really are the best. The Brasilia side is a different airline, and the flying is very challenging, but fun. I wouldn't change a thing, except I would have done one more year to get my 1000 121 PIC time in. Guess what, when it's time to upgrade the Brasilia will be available first, and it is a very difficult transition from jet FO to Brasilia captain. Then when you transition back to the jet, you'll be senior to the guys that waited to get into the jet first shot!

Good point...personally I'd prefer the prop (didn't care for the CRJ). But since I can't seem to get a call to save my life, it's a moot point.

He reminds me every time I whine and complain which is almost daily. Got him on the phone now, he says hello. how you doing in the down under?

Oh you know 98 degrees and a view of the Indian Ocean from my pad, it sucks!

No really it does, Im a Mtn man I've decided. Things are good, there are things I like better about this place and things I don't.

Its not that bad. I did it, so did a certain part time P-3er (KE). I wouldn't want to go from EMB FO to Jet CA, but now that up-or-out is a thing of the past I guess it wouldn't matter much.

Thanks for the correction, although from the instructors and TW (who didn't make it) it was difficult. Funny I was chatting with K his morning about his tandems...

I've been following this thread for a couple of months and wondered if you guys know if they are still doing interviews and hiring? I Did the Airline Apps thing and keep it updated but still haven't heard from any of the places I targeted with Airline Apps.

Thanks in advance!

He tell you about jumping on a "busted" ankle? I know there were a couple of washouts in TW's class, at least one who was an EMB FO. I just finished IOE for a New-hire on Sat, and according to him there were 4 (out of 20) in his class that didn't even make it out of sim (one didn't get out of systems).

Still going on. Did you fill out the skywest.com applications form too?

I just interviewed last week! The guy said they have classes scheduled every month throughout the year and he said maybe 400 new hires this year. Now I'm just telling you what he said! I'm not saying you should believe it and I'm certainly not going to drink any Kool-Aid. I'm just the messenger here. All that will probably change, as they didn't even seem to know when classes were scheduled for what.

Sure it does, but there are many MANY other ways to minimize debt by NOT going to an overpriced school. Sure, ERAU may have it's benefits (debatable), but when the MGIB runs out, you're still left with quite a bit of debt.

I wouldn't mind seeing in another thread how the Post 9/11 GI Bill works.

But I know first hand how well the MGIB can work. It paid for my post-PPL flight training and my undergraduate degree.

Im using the 9/11 Gi bill and all I can say is that I wish i would have know about it before I went to one of those $100,000 schools. I had no use for the 9-11 Gi bill at first until I realized it pays 100% of flight cost. I'm currently getting my ATP in a BE-90 and I'm getting my ATP rotorcraft all on the GI Bill. Although I had to do 8 long years active duty and 2 years in the desert to get it.

Oh crap, I didn't even realize there was an application form for them. Do you mean the one on the AirlineApps page or elsewhere? Just looked through the Skywest page and didn't see anything, now I'm off to look into AirlineApps again.

Time for me to get out of the middle east, things are getting kinda crazy over here.

Thanks for that! I had someone who sent in my resume but I haven't heard back anything yet, maybe a little patience is in order.

Well, I did fill in the form for them on the Airline Apps site, just forgot that there was one. So, hopefully I have covered all my bases, now time to update times and enter them again.

I gotta say, I'm a little bummed.

They called me to apply via airlineapps.
Then they called me and said they would evaluate it and get back to me in about a week.
They got back to me today and said I wasn't "selected for the First Officer position"

With over 3000TT, 300ME, and 100 instrument, I'm bewildered as to why they didn't accept me. I even included a handful of current SKW references.
The one thing that may stick out is a suspended drivers license for an unpaid, minor infraction... Maybe it's a small deal to me and a big deal to them.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about as I do not know much about the regional world but...perhaps overqualified?
