DISCLAIMER: I found all these Qs mainly on www.willflyforfood.com, just by reading from the very 1st post, to the very last one, being a little OCD, I put them all together in one place so that I wouldn't have to go back and forth, in and out different web pages. Notice that I didn't post answers. Look them up!
LIVE BY THE GOUGE, DIE BY THE GOUGE.

Good luck

I posted this the other day in the "Jobs Available > American Eagle Hiring" thread, but it's more at home here. (Moderators, feel free to delete the duplicate posting)

Received the "pre-offer of employment" letter. Looks like I may need to change my signature soon. =)

4 of 7 interviewees were offered the job. The gouges here are up-to-date and right on: http://www.willflyforfood.com/pilot-...can-Eagle.html I printed out a stack and read through them, looking up anything I wasn't sure of.

I bought 1.5 hours in a Baron sim with a furloughed American pilot in the right seat (who used to be on their pilot hiring board) and this helped me out tremendously. Here is the company's website: http://www.simcheckinternational.com/ for those who live close enough to Sacramento.

Something which helped me gain a lot of confidence for the tech portion of the interview was reading through (more like scanning through) Jeppesen's Chart Clinic, a series of 30 in-depth articles which were published in AOPA magazine a few years back: http://www.jeppesen.com/personal-sol...art-clinic.jsp Click on the "Chart Clinic Reprints" tab.

As all the gouges say, make sure your airlineapps.com information is ACCURATE and there are no surprises when they do the background/employment verification or look through your log books. I'm at 2370TT, 155 multi, 1200ish turbine, 75 in the past 6 mo, current 135 job, CFII&MEI, 2 years of college. As far as the other guys hired- 1 was a Guard KC-135 pilot, another was a Comair CRJ FO about to be furloughed, and the other was a CFI. Like I said in a previous post, I don't think I would have received the invitation to interview without the face time I had with AE recruiters at ACE '10.

Hope this helps somebody!

I have ZERO glass time and I ended buying some time as well in a sim. It doesn't matter what kind it is...I used a redbird fxm (something like that) full motion, G1000 w/ FD. I think the key here is "G1000 w/ FD". My sim was a C172RG. I flew about 3hrs w/ my old Chief CFI and that was plenty. Practice a random profile (I used the T/O KMEM rwy 9, climb out, random hold, rv to ILS rwy 18R) so that you can get familiar w/ everything. 3hrs for me were enough, and the day of there were no surprises. The only surprise was a different profile...but that's out of your control! lol

I also ended up using an aviation consulting firm to prepare me for the TECH portion. Worth or not it's not the point. I really wanted this job and I didn't mind spending the money. They person I dealt with was very knowledgeable and just an AWESOME person that wants you to get the job. I spent ALL day in front of the computer the skeduled day of the review.
Highly recommended.

Congrats! .... and welcome to the suck. :D The way we're about to start turning over people, we're going to need new FOs pronto. Glad to have you aboard.

Please make sure everything is in order everyone, and that everything is disclosed.

I now know of three people that have recently had their pre-offer of employment RESENDED prior to their medical.

Of course they were not given a reason, but it happened between the interview and the end of their background checks, so if you have skeletons in the closet be sure to be up front. Jut because you get the pre offer doesn't always mean you have it made.

Good luck to everyone, it is a great company.

Just for me being curious... I'm going up to the review board Friday or at least I think I am... If you didn't hide anything during your interview or have any skeletons in the closet, is the review board anything to be worried about?

When I interviewed, granted this was back in Aug, I asked about the "Captain's Review" after getting selected at the end of the process.

I was told, in so many words, that there really was no Captain's Review board per se, just a final review of all documentation. I think the Captain's Review Board has gone the way of the dodo bird, as it is all captains that conduct each part of the interview (this was not always the case)

As for your question, I never felt a bit concerned during the period between receiving the pre-offer and getting the call for a medical. I had nothing to hide, and I was up front about everything. I was up front about everything from the time I filled out the application, so there was total consistency. I had two busts, no big deal. I took an early honorable discharge (if you can call 8 years early) because of a family hardship, no problem. No violations, no traffic infractions, had all my driving records, college transcripts, etc.

I felt that it went smooth as silk. Now saying that I'm sure my buddies that got their offer rescinded felt like everything was fine as well, so who knows. They tell me that they have no idea what could have caused them to be rejected. I also know that unless it is something that is actually happening to you, you can never count on getting the whole story, so I take it with a grain of salt.

I would be willing to bet that you have nothing to worry about.

Good luck!

Does anybody know how much time usually elapses between the "pre-offer of employment" letter at the end the interview and the call to sked the medical?

Got a call today saying that I made thru the final review board...will call monday to sked the medical!

cheers, this news definitely made my day!

good luck
