I'm with ya there. They've got, what, 1500 on furlough? Furlough date was sometime in 2001, so they've been gone 8+ years. Odds are good they're either at another airline or out altogether. If *I* was out altogether and doing well, I wouldn't come back to this rat race, but that's just me. If they're at another airline, unless it's a REALLY bad regional, why would they leave that kind of seniority and schedule to go sit reserve at American? I'm sure they'll have some come back, but I'd bet money that it's not a very large percentage. AA may be THE place to be if you get in as soon as they start hiring again.
 
This was what I found during the review process on Airline Apps. I'm not sure if it's current.

American Eagle’s qualifications are as follows:

Commercial Pilots Certification with multi-engine and instrument ratings
Total Fixed wing of 1000 hours preferred
Multi-engine fixed wing time of 200 hours preferred
A current flying job (12 month experience)
Current FAA First Class Medical
IFR Currency
FCC License
Possess the ability to work in the US
Possess the ability to travel in and out of the US to all cities/countries served by
American Eagle
Ability to relocate
Ability to work weekends, nights, shifts, holidays, and overnight trips
Minimum age 21
* Flight time requirements are commensurate with experience

The following preferred requirements are common amongst Eagle’s most successful applicants:
Actual instrument time to be 10% of total time
Six months experience with a Part 121 or Part 135 operation
ATP Certificate or successful completion of valid ATP written test
Hours flown in most recent 12 months to exceed 100 hours
Fixed wing multi-engine turboprop experience
College Degree
 
Anyone see the notice on Airline Apps? No more free applications. Looks like good timing on their part with Eagle and Colgan hiring, they'll make a killing. Now we get to pay $60 bucks just to APPLY for a job.
 
Can you still update an existing free application? I updated my Eagle one yesterday, but haven't messed with it today. There are a couple of other things I need to update on it.
 
10% actual IMC time? If 1000 hours were accumulated entirely in California, like me, there'd be no way.

Print out the receipt for paying for AirlineApps then. Sounds like a cost associated to obtaining a job to me. You can deduct things like resume and interview prep. Don't see why you can't deduct this. However, for those that don't have enough deductions to itemize, all it's gonna do is take more $$$ out of our pockets. Did Kit Darby buy AirlineApps when I wasn't looking?

Yes, it's deductible, but when you are on furlough, living on unemployment pay, 60 bucks is quite a bit of money. This is totally BS! Smart move by the Airline Apps folks to start charging now... A-holes!
