Contract Negotiations / Agreement

Re: Contract Negotiations...

Yea by the time we hit CPC status which would probably be at or pass the 2012 time frame for us center people, my payband jump around $27k more a year. :rawk:\

Edit: Just to reconfirm ZLA is level 12 facility right?

Not to be a nay-sayer, but don't count your chickens before they're hatched. Most center trainees don't make it through training.

Most of the time it's about attitude and long waits to start training. Sometimes it's a combination of both. Make sure you're ready to do whatever it takes, though, and keep yer mouth shut!

Re: Arbitration Agreement

Also want to add that at the beginning of each year a CPC will now get a 3% raise on top of the other stuff.

always has to be someone hating on center guys, tbh the pay is less of a concern to me than doing something I am happy doing for my career. If "most" center trainees don't CPC, then where do the CPCs at centers come from?

I wasn't counting my chickens just doing the math with the new scale "if", according to the FAA timeframe, center people were to get CPC in 3 years. Remember I said "if"... But I know what your trying to say so none taken negatively. :D

+1 on doing something you'll enjoy doing for a long career

I sure will miss my current open view outside once I get to the center, (if I only got picked for terminal ), I would still have a nice open view but no real complaint from me. Everything happen the way it was meant to be and it would not have happened any other way.

So as Big said, "most" don't CPC... center bound people lets be the "least"
to make it to the top. So what does that mean? As the Army slogan goes, "Be the best you can be!" At the "least", don't give up! :D

Well, it'll take at least 3 years for me (a center new-hire) to even dream of getting fully trained (i know, realistically, longer than 3 years)... so by the time I do, I'm looking at minimum of 100+ thousand a year. That is ok in my book.

Not all centers take 3+ years to train. It depends on how well staffed they are to have people train you on D-side and R-side.

My husband's training has been delayed about 3 months due to ERAM but instructors and others have told him to still plan on being fully checked out and CPC as soon as Christmas 2010. That is about 20 months out of OKC.

If you learn fast, study hard and really stick to it you can be CPC faster than 3 years...a lot faster. There are people that my husband works with that were in the same starting training class...one is BARELY finishing his D-side training while others from the same OKC class are now CPC.

I don't know where this rumor comes from. ZOB has something like a 90% CPC rate.

Edit: Yeah the training manager from Cleveland said that 2 years is typically how long it takes at ZOB.

I have heard similar things about other centers, just because they are all level 11's and 12's don't always mean there is a high washout rate.

A few guys I know that left the academy last year in November are already half way checked out. Seems there is a big myth about washing out in the FAA. The few people I did see wash out at the academy didn't really try but seems most classes passed every one. And usually at the facilities its the same thing. If you want the job and put in effort you'll make it through. The washout rates are HIGHLY exaggerated on this forum.

Chuck Norris is a checked-out CPC at every center and large TRACON.

HAHAHA

Chuck Norris didn't get CPC status by the FAA, he CPCed the FAA lol

I remember my 12 year old cousin was telling me Chuck Norris jokes while going home after a long fun day at Magic Mountain.

I treated him to Magic after coming back from Washington D.C. He was 1 of 2 students picked from his entire school to go meet ex vice-pres A. Gore to learn about leadership and what not. Scares me sometimes how smart he is :)

I remember these from him:

When we go to sleep, we check our closet for the boogeyman. When the boogeyman goes to sleep, he checks his closet for Chuck Norris.

Chuck Norris has already been to Mars, that's why there are no signs of life.

When Chuck Norris does push-ups, he doesn't push himself up, he pushes the earth down

Chuck Norris killed two stones with one bird.

Chuck Norris counted to infinity...twice!

Chuck Norris doesn't sleep, he waits.

Anyone see this anywhere?

"A New Entrant is a federal employee who has never been employed by the
Agency as an Air Traffic Control Specialist in the terminal/en route option. A
New Entrant, whether or not he/she is required to attend the FAA Academy,
will retain their current Federal Pay up to the maximum of the Developmental
3 pay band (career level G) and receive further increases in accordance with
section 5."

Finally a voice of reason, this is a much more accurate statement than "most center trainees wash out"... work hard, do your best and things will pay off.
