Pubnat 5/6

I wouldn't think about it like that. You know, reading these boards will drive you crazy unless you know how to read everything with a grain of salt. Think about a backup. I'm going to go back to school and do the CTI route if this doesn't work out next month. I've already submitted the application and had my transcripts sent, etc...

Keep in mind as well that the people on this forum and similar forums are hardcore...there aren't many people here considering the pool of applicants. The people on here are really determined and really want the job as opposed to other people who may have just been applying as they applied for every other job they could find available.

Clearly the returning to school option isn't what I want to do since I would be saying goodbye to my savings and I'd have to rent two apartments now (My wife still has a year of grad school left) but I think I finally know what I want to do. That is the one thing I can thank Hertz for...my friends & I laugh a lot about this. We really used to think a lot more about money before we started working at Hertz. Now, in our post-Hertz life, we've decided that money isn't nearly as important as we thought it was. Towards the end (I quit earlier this month) I kept thinking about Tom in Office Space saying "Do you know that there are people in this world that don't have to put up with this ...." whenever I was in my office.

Many of us had company car priviledges and I think most of us at the end were at the point where we were talking about how walking isn't so bad and it would promote good health.

Either way, if you can't tell already, I strongly recommend to avoid working at Hertz & Enterprise. They specifically target the recent college grad because they are too naive to know any better. There are companies out there that will actually treat you with respect, pay you a decent salary, and give you challenging (yet realistic) goals.

I worked at Enterprise for 5 years (car-prep in school to Management during college) and it is a CIRCUS!!!!! I loved quitting that job! They were never crazy about my being a meteorology student anyways. As to the Office Space quotes, let me just say-I already did this gig for 4 months in OKC and quit for personal reasons (I may get back into it) but DO NOT for one second think you wont see bull#$#$ that will blow your mind in the FAA. I saw it at Enterprise and I saw it at the FAA! Example: One night in radar lab it was very chilly and the FAA lady came and wrote up a girl in my class for wearing a hooded sweatshirt. AMAZING!

I must be from another planet, but I dont see how that is so amazing. The FAA has a dress code, right?

I'm sure they have their fair share of BS as well but I think I could put up with it.

Hertz is just constant negative reinforcement. You never heard anything about the goals you exceeded but you certainly heard about all the ones you didn't make. There was always a conference call about it -- we called them "You Suck Meetings" because that is really all they were about -- you got told how you suck.

My last area manager was a real piece of work too. He wanted to have all of the hourly employees be on a conference call but he wanted them to clock out first so it would be a real form of punishment. He suggested it twice and then he never said it again...I guess someone finally told him that it is illegal to force an hourly employee to stay at work off the clock. I just told my employees what they already knew, "He wants you to be on a conference call but he wants you to be off the clock. I cannot make you stay for this. If you do not attend I will simply say that you chose not to attend and there is nothing I can do since we are not paying you."

That's why I won't check ASAP until poeple start getting their TOL's Id rather find out I didn't make it when everyone else is getting offers instead of finding out and losing all hope
Yeah. I swearing off ASAP until about a week after the boards blow up. Otherwise I'd be checking it a couple times a day for the next month and just generally going crazy.

You guys! Have you been reading?

If you wait until people get their TOL's, then you'll really be out of luck, because you get that at your interview. Also, ASAP will not tell you if you have an interview invite, you will get an email if you are selected.

:yeahthat: I work at a company that is the worst in history. They have required the secretary to count the mail that comes to our office to justify why our office should remain open. She doesn't have to just count the mail but count every single sheet of paper in that correspondance. We deal with A LOT of paper work at my office and we are equal parts paper and electronic files. We have conferences for the sake of conferences. I could go on and on. But, wearing a hoodie is the least of my troubles right now.

Sorry about that, I don't think you understand what we are saying.
I'll try again, what we are saying is that we want to wait until the panels are finished their meetings and people start getting their pepc offers (JC and Stuck pad will light up). That way it wont suck as bad when we sign into ASAP and we see that we didn't make it.

My understanding is that if you do make it past panels you will get an email or a letter in the mail. ASAP will only tell you if you didn't make it. Right?

If you're selected you'll receive an email containing facility selection information and PEPC invite details.

No offense trojan but what the crap are you doing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're killing me and us! I am not holding the fact that you only have 3 posts to your name and that two of your 3 posts were incorrect, but dang! If this is how you keep people informed quit now. I think I'm gonna cry! Please do not post anything else, please:( I am gonna be flying stupid 135 forever if what you're saying is true:banghead:.

Don't worry. He also said PUBNAT7 was going to be combined with 5/6 and they haven't even taken their ATSAT yet. They'll be hiring people

Have you found any state that is not hiring OTS??????????????? What kind of post is that? Every state is hiring ots.

The Eastern Region includes the following states:
  • Delaware
  • Maryland
  • New Jersey
  • New York

  • Pennsylvania
  • Virginia
  • West Virginia
  • District of Columbia

West Virginia definitely needs people so I'm not sure why they wouldn't hire anyone. Is there some reason the region as a whole wouldn't be hiring?

I didn't get picked up for NY or VT. Granted VT only has one facility and they have like 12 CPC and 12 trainees.

:yeahthat: I havent looked at 5/6 at all yet but im sure everyone here is starting to notice "the rumor mill". probobly 30% of radical statements on this forum is actually true so dont get your boxers in a bunch over what someone has said.

What's the point of getting on here and freaking everyone out like that? We've done everything we can do at this point. All there is left is to sit and wait. Why not just do that in peace for once without worrying about what states to pick or what to study or who to talk to. For once, we finally don't have anything else to do.
