XJT contract

With what I'm hearing so far, I'm undecided. We deserve better, but our seniority list is so senior/top heavy, it'll be hard to squeeze more blood out of this turnip. So far, I'm just failing to see how this will "return us to profitability." Someone please explain.

It isn't. It's trying to stop the bleeding long enough for us to negotiate some CPAs that aren't dreadful.

The issue is that we don't work for a legacy carrier. As such, we don't compete against UAL, DAL and AAL. They are our clients. Our competition is TSA, PSA, etc. Getting "what we deserve" is a great slogan, but it would mean we could not compete against the and would result in our going out of business, which would mean more business for GoJet.

I think it will pass. Morale is still really low and until we (LASA and/or LXJT) get some legitimate long term CPAs and new a/c neither side will trust SKYW

Unfortunately, I believe that mistrust is warranted. The water under the bridge is tainted.

I'll probably be a yes vote. I want to see it before I make my mind up for sure. But if it passes, and then we enter negotiations again in the future when/if we are back to making money, and things don't improve, I'm bringing the matches to pass out.

The hard part about all of this is going to be keeping spirits up. When people get down, performance numbers start to suffer. If we want new flying, we need to mitigate that as much as possible.

I will be a yes voter. I read the language and like the changes. To me, I see that we are losing money and co wants to give me a little more plus some improvements. They say this will help them, fine. I'll take the raise and keep doing my job safely and as good as I can. The QoL improvements I like, however they don't necessarily affect me as much anymore. That said, I wish we had these when they did apply to me. So, yes I wanted more, but I'm not going to hold out for the possibility of more bc I don't think there is more to be given. I'm going to vote yes, and if it passes the ball is squarely in SKYW's court. If they don't follow through with their word I think attrition will be much worse than it is now.

I will never upgrade here, I've come to accept that. I am actively trying to find a better place to hang my hat, however the thought of a jump to another regional chasing an upgrade is too big of a gamble for me.

If passed, any guesses as to when this may take effect? Currently considering XJT...

I assum voting will be the same time frame on both sides.
Voting starts today and goes through the 17th (I think). I imagine if yes implementation not long after.

Thanks. If hired, I probably wouldn't start until July or so... should be plenty of time.

ERJ if I can get it... hoping for EWR.
That's pretty junior, you should have no problem getting it.

If you make the choice to come here let me know. Also, as for ERJ vs CRJ, they let me pick when I got hired.

Thanks. Which did you end up going with, and why?

ERJ because the contract, the CRJ had a DFW base which was what I wanted but I liked the ERJ contract and I had friends flying it.

Now we have an ERJ DFW base so I won there too

I've heard that the ERJ contract was a bit better. What are some of the differences?
I am obviously not an expert on the ASA contract, but off the top of my head they sit airport standby for 8 hours and get paid for 4 hours. On the ERJ we sit 4 and get paid 4. I really don't know many other details, and to be honest I'm on my first cup of coffee so as this starts to work the others may come to me as well. Either way you get a good contract, I'm sure they have some things that are better than ours(I think they have hybrid lines now). Maybe @Blackhawk could help out with that.

Regardless, good contract, good pilot group. Being DFW based I get to know a lot of the ASA guys and they have all been cool to sit and kill a 3 hour sit with.

I think it's six one way, half a dozen the other, at least on the senior side. I haven't looked at reserve rules.... in a few years.
What I have found is that ERJ side will get more 401/Plan B contributions and may, on paper make more, but senior CRJ pilots actually make more for working less with PBS. For example CRJ NAP lines go very senior as I know guys who make over $400/flight hour doing them (take their annual income and divide by how much they had to fly to get it).

Our senior guys work the line bidding system pretty damn well, but I think you're right, both contracts have their ups and downs and both are pretty darn good for the regional market.

What I have told pilots coming here is to look at based first and foremost. As a junior pilot the other stuff will be a wash if you live in domicile or have an easy commute on out metal.

Agreed. Living in base has made this job amazing, before I was commuting to reserve. For 10 months the commute was on our metal, then Mesa and SKYW took over. Fortunately the SKYW connection helped, but the last two months I was month I almost commuted on AA exclusively.
