Oh, I love the media....I know that there have been several posts about stupid comments that were made, these were a few of my favorites from our local news station here in Houston:
"The EMD-145 holds about 10,000 gallons of fuel and burns it at about 3,000 gallons an hour" HAHAHA
"After a landing like that, this pilot should get to graduate up to the 'big planes"
"The pilot now has to make a belly landing"
"They changed from Runway 9 to Runway 15L, which will give him a much nicer tailwind...."
"They have a little switch for the apu...but it doesn't burn any fuel, it's a little generator that burns a little fuel..."
From the master of aviation...John King, "They are probably weighing the option of flying out and dumping some fuel over the gulf...." I knew I was wasting time watching those videos when I was a student pilot.
DRUMMROLLLLL....and my top favorite....
"The tower is now telling the pilots what to do next!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Oh well, a little humor for us pilots during a definite nail-biting time...the crew did outstanding and I hope and pray that each of us could have done the same in that situation. NICE JOB!
