As someone that has worked to produce a number of conferences over the years, these things are not cheap anymore.

Hotel rooms have to be guaranteed. Meeting rooms have to be contracted for. Food and Beverage has to be ordered. Exhibitor space and set up is super expensive.

There are companies that put these things together and those companies are also expensive charging up to 25% per attendee fee and exhibitor fee collected.

The break even on most of the smaller conferences is now pretty close to $300 per attendee. Exhibitors do offset some of this cost and that is why attendees are sometimes charged below the actual cost of producing the event.

I would guess that is why the fees to ACE are around $100 instead of around $300 per attendee.
