Description

WORK ACTIVITIES/CONTEXT:

Provides friendly service to and maintains positive relationships with all internal and external Customers.

Works in a cooperative spirit to ensure the success of our Company.

Performs numerous duties that assist the Dispatchers, including but not limited to:

Executing ATC slot substitution programs, maintaining various operational databases in SWIFT.

Transmitting various notifications to stations during daily operations.

Ensuring that selected weather maps are faxed to stations for distribution to flight crews.

Maintaining central jump-seat reservations and maintaining printed weather.

NOTAM and field condition information for archival purposes.

Maintains daily on-going dispatch bulletin for reservations in the SAAS DRs.

Assists the Dispatch Specialist with all areas of SWA charter planning.

Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description.

May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders.

Minimum Requirements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.

Must be at least 21 years of age.

Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

EDUCATION:

College course work or a degree with an Aviation focus would be an asset.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Must have 3 years airline or related work experience inside the company or equivalent experience with a 121-air carrier under the Code of Federal Regulations.

International experience with as an Aircraft Dispatcher preferred.

121- air carrier Dispatch experience preferred.

LICENSING / CERTIFICATION:

Must be a licensed aircraft dispatcher under federal guidelines.

SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE:

Must be able to operate various computer systems with various software packages.

Must be able to type and/or use the computer keyboard with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the current demands of the job and have the ability to master any future computer system that might become available for use within the flight operations dispatch office.

Must be able to read documents, follow instructions, learn and understand new procedures and all rules and regulations.

Must successfully complete Dispatch indoctrination, training and probation.

Must be able to work well with others as part of a Team.

Must be able to work under tight time constraints and under stressful and/or emergency situations.

Must be able to use various radio equipment.

Must be able to communicate and receive information verbally via radio or multi-line telephone equipment.

Must be able to work rotating shifts (24x7) and overtime as required.

Must be able to comply with and enforce company attendance standards as described in labor agreements and/or established guidelines.

Must maintain a well-groomed appearance.
