Will fo4ever bid something?

The 767 is $12/hr more than the 88. That would be nice, but there's more to life than $. Time at home is far more important than $12/hr. To bid the ER in JFK would be a pay raise, BUT he'd have a lot of commuting expenses that would more than eat up the pay raise. Not to mention he'd lose a lot of time at home. So, for us, right now, doing the ER in JFK is not something he's interested in. Remember though, that he's already done international flying, the 767 with TWA.

Now a CA seat would be enough of an incentive to commute to ATL!
no no, i was talking about the 767/757 flying out of CVG, not JFK....

Behind ya! :) Congrats again, BTW. Aren't electric seats just dandy? :) How was Hop?

Motorized sheepskin is now one of my true loves! I move them inflight just because I like it. :) I think the new seats that arent motorized are actually more comfortable... woo hoo for the headrest.

Hop was awesome... We about killed ourselves on a run in SFO. Those hills should be illegal!

It's great seeing all these guys behind me... I've been plug in July and August... bidding 410 out of 416 in Sept and more are rolling from the vacancies. All good things.

How's the ER??

Hop's a great guy I still email him about talk stuff! :)

You're right about the seats. But have you flown the ones with the built-in sunshades? Niiiiiice!

The ER is great. Best job at Southernjets ever. I'm doing JFK-CDG-CVG-CDG-JFK-BUD-JFK later on this week.

Oh, come on. I know you miss those seats in The Spirit of the Memphis Belle. :)

I commute CVG to JFK. I find I have much more time at home now than flying domestic. Domestically, I was flying a 4 on 3 off rotation and was catching myself coming and going. Now I'm gone 6 or 7 days...but am home 8 to 10 days at a time. The commuting is not fun, but it's all same day commutes. I definitely like having the longer stretches of time at home.

Also, 70 hours of MD80 captain time on reserve...is not much more pay than 80 some hours of 767 FO pay. It's less than $1000 per month.

Yeah, but you're senior to him! He's a 10/99 hire, and would be on the edge of RSV out in JFK. Maybe a lineholder in the summer, but probably not in the winter. Why would he want to sit RSV in JFK in the winter?

Obviously, things are re-evaluated every time a new bid comes out, but he's staying put for now.

Yea, reserve stinks. Definitely got to stay away from that.

Sceuwse me while I whip this out...

I'm staying put! (for this week, until the base closes, my relative standing puts me back on reserve, a tidal wave hits, or a tornado wipes out
the I-275 bridge)

I'm not gonna commute 'till they make me!

A mandatory displacement has no seat lock by the way, so I've got that going for me.

I've lived with the stress of commuting and I'm happy to rely on my car. It never cancels, It's never oversold, it's not weight restricted, and It's always there when I get done with a trip (With one notable exception).

CVG 88 still gives me more time with Mrs. MQ and the kids. Daddy's home!

I have done the math, and JFK ER would be a pay cut for me if I was on reserve. I'll fly with you eventually, Doug! I was going to leave you a love note last week, but we got to gate 29 late, had to run to gate 1 where we were late again. They didn't board the plane even though the FA's were there because they were waiting for the PILOTS! But that was OK because there was no tug and the towbar was broken anyway.

You ER guys get the good stuff.

Two years may be right for a NYC 88 CA, but I think it will be 5 for anywhere else, including the master base. Unless we actually grow, rather than just replace equipment. I can hold FO on anything except 777 and ATL 765, that's not too bad.

Stay tuned...

Well, the award is out. 8 more guys in category (ATL767B) behind me.

I imagine there will be more new hires into my category as well, as the seniority numbers went all the way back to the current new hire class (thus, probably unfilled slots).

There were only a few NYC7ERB awards... obviously still a tremendous amount unfilled up there.

NYC maddog CA went all the way back to around 5400 seniority...there are 7000 total pilots and I'm around 6780.

Pretty cool stuff... it's nice to see alot of progression here.

I knew it! I knew it!

The award shows that 2 people junior to Bill, one in his class one the class behind him, got 88A in LGA! He didn't believe me when I said he'd be able to hold it! He did not have his bid in for 88A LGA, because of the commute, but it's nice to know he could have held it if he'd wanted it.

He can now hold F/O on any equipment, any base with the exception of the 777.

BTW Congrats to Kevin!:)

Now if Bill complains about advancement, kick him in the testicles for me, mm'kay? :)
