They need to get all these dudes trained. Being 30 people behind what you are on paper is ridiculous.I keep getting pissed with the monthly "there won't be a bid this month message"
I see many people on here have gone 135/91 to a 121 and love it but at the same time many people who went 121 to 135/91 and are very happy. As someone who has only done 135 freight and EMS I am just trying to build a picture of why people seem to enjoy one over the other. Thanks for sharing
Some do, some don't. Many of the "entry level" charter places you are tied to a blackberry or phone with 13 days off per quarter. EMS usually gives 14 hard days off per month, excepting places like Eagle Air Med which work 20 on 10 off or similar schedules.Do many 135 operations besides scheduled freight give you a lot of time off? Like actual hard days off besides the legal 13 days off per the regs? I'm specifically referring to passenger charter ops
I get 15 hard days off per month. Same 15 every month.Do many 135 operations besides scheduled freight give you a lot of time off? Like actual hard days off besides the legal 13 days off per the regs? I'm specifically referring to passenger charter ops
Mmmm Falcons. For me it has a lot to do with the flying. I've only been doing this for 10 years or so but I'm flying a large cabin 3 engine jet as PIC to places like: Scotland, Ireland, Rome, Bora Bora and New Zealand.
I'm not sure if that is possible in the 121 world. At least not at a regional and not in the first 10 years of 121 flying. A friend of mine is flying at AA and is 15 years older than I. It took him a long time to get to fly international in a 767.
Also I think modern airline terminals are the 7th level of hell. I only airline 1 or 2 times a year and I loathe the experience. I'd love the perks of a 121 job but if I hear the announcement from the TSA one more time I'm going to lose my mind.

Depends on the company and base. AA's MIA international side is so junior it goes to new hires. At LUS, it only takes a year on property to bid over to the 757 international in PHL. CLT is another story. Some new hires have gotten it but QOL sucks as you'd be on short call for a very long time. DFW/LAX is the opposite. For me it has a lot to do with the flying. It is so amazing being able to plan your life more than 12 days out. Oh you want to go to Thailand in October? Ya, I'm down.
I actually prefer to work the Holidays since they pay more, and I could give a crap less what magical day of the year I see my family. It means the same thing on the 10th of May as it does on the 25th of December.
And I think I know my schedule for the next...year...2 years...depends on how long I have the job. I'm pretty sure that I have the next 6 Christmas Days off, too.
I mean, I can plan:It is so amazing being able to plan your life more than 12 days out. Oh you want to go to Thailand in October? Ya, I'm down.

Your request is denied due to insufficient reserve staffing.
Ya, that's the problem I have with even the major airline schedule. I don't want to work 4 on 4 off or something like that. I want to work all of them in a row. 117 doesn't even allow for that with the 1 off in 7. I know that I have never been more rested for flying than I am in this job. In fact I get significantly less rest when I'm not at work. I need large pieces of time off to do what I like to do with my life.I mean, I can plan:

This isn't just a regional problem, but it's particularly pernicious here. And way less so at Dad's outfit.Ya, that's the problem I have with even the major airline schedule.
