Why Be A Pilot?

[ QUOTE ]
hahahhahaha - too bad they don't have watch areas in phx like they do in mco

[/ QUOTE ]

It's not PHX but DVT has a nice little observation deck on top of the restaurant in the terminal.

1. Because I've always been fascinated with anything aviation. I love everything to do with it and it's a skill that I look forward to the challenge of mastering (do we ever truly master it though?).

2. A happy AND well-paid-for-what-I-do-lovin'-life individual!

The Left Seat restaraunt on the north side of PHX (nest to the DPS hangar) has a observation deck too on top of place. Their hours are somewhat odd though, only open for lunch and early dinner.

Me too...

I once thought that I wanted to be a pilot. I have my PPL and close to finishing up on my IR.

But a couple of months ago I was on board a 777 parked at the gate here in CVG talking to the pilots and they were showing me all the stuff in the cockpit.

It really fascinated me but it all seemed so overwelming to me.

Later I went back and started talking to the F/A's while Matthew stayed up front talking to the pilots. Talking to them is where I felt most comfortable and most at ease.

I really like talking, listening and helping people. I'm a real people person.

So I milled over it for a few weeks and decided that being an airline pilot wasn't for me. But I still greatly enjoy flying recreationally.

So now my focus is finishing school (majoring in psychology and business) and have career aspirations to be a flight attendant.

So since I no longer want to be a pilot I can at least marry one and as Kristie said be supportive and encourage him as well as others to suceed at there goals of aviation.

And besides don't all flight attendants hope to marry a pilot.

A sea lion was found yesterday in California 65 miles inland from the coast. An interesting pic of it basking on the back of a CHP car in the news.

It's a corny line from a corny movie.
Probably one of the most quoted movies on this board....

of all the times I've seen Office Space, I don't recall that quote . . . and I can recall just about all of it

seen Old School a few times too, own it as well, don't recall it there either, but it could be, fits Old School better than Office Space

Edit: To answer the original question.

1. Fascinated with the industry, love being around airports, the hustle and bustle, people with places to go, pilots with planes to fly, clouds to break through to sail over a cloud blanket with sunshine pouring in.

Grew up in Dover, DE around the C-5's at DAFB. Want to fly military, still trying to work those kinks out. One of my best friends would fly to see his mom around XMas and I always volunteered to take him and pick him up from the airport even though his flights were around 5am and we had to leave at 2:30am.

Can not stop thinking about flying for a living.

2. Want to fly for Uncle Sam, hoping my UPT slot for my ANG unit in the C-5 goes through, then do that, build time, and work corporate/commercial also . . . if not, then flight school followed by instructing, regional, corporate or major.

hey miked,

i'm sorry if im not perfect on the english....that's why i'm gona fly airplanes and not desks. ba dum shoosh

ok, ill retire now.

Which movie? Office Space or Old School?

[/ QUOTE ]
It's from the movie Airplane! Here's the quote:

naked.wav (76K)
Capt. Clarence Oveur: "Have you ever been in a cockpit before?"
Kid: "No sir, I've never been up in a plane before."
Capt. Clarence Oveur: "Have you ever seen a grown man naked?"
