THe calculus changes when support staff and HQ people cant get to work due to ice. NE airports still not open to full capacity. With that said, its a meltdown (freeze up?) of epic proportions. Luckily it isnt during a holiday.

Yup. My turn today is missing two FAs. Same story as the last 3 days. They wait until the last minute to cancel it. I think tracking is overwhelmed.
9+ hour hold times to get ahold of tracking. FAs are just self releasing and finding their own accommodations at this point. The wheels have fallen off and crews are OOP and tracking has lost them. There were scheduling/IOC folks who were let go as part of the “restructuring” in November 🤷🏽‍♂️

Ooof.

Meanwhile southwest went to assigned seating overnight and they aren’t even on the list 😂

Great timing!

Per AA call today

  • Winter Storm Fern Disruption -- More than 9,000 flights canceled over four days with at least two additional days of elevated cancellations expected, marking the largest weather-related operational disruption in company history.

Still looking like AA is being beat down. I'm guessing they are the "winners" of this. So, anyone make some $$$ on the Polymarket? :D Oh, and looks like there may be a Nor'easter in the cards...ah, the fun continues boys and girls.

I wonder at what point we just shut it down, assemble 4-6 crew haulers and just get people back into position and reset for the Northeaster this weekend. Saw a flight last night with 27 DH crews listed (unsure how many were actually in position)

...You mean, be  proactive?

For a storm... in the future!?

But in reality I'd be shocked if even the guys in our own HQ would be ready to prep another cancelation package.

got stuck in phoenix trying to get back to Dallas...problem was

-80% of the support staff (gate agents, campers, mx, etc) called out, couldn't get to the airport.
-1/3 of the jetways were frozen
-most of the tugs couldn't push aircraft due to ice.
-most aircraft that did depart didn't have water because all potable water lines froze

took 2 days to get back home, of the 206 passengers, 95 were DH'ing crew members.

but hey here we are...

PSA had a CRJ divert to BWI two days ago with 36 crew on board.

All 36 timed out.

Looks like I'll be back just in time to miss all the winter mess but just in time for the start of t-storm season. Let the fun begin. Hoping to be DFW based but not sure at this point.
