whats your favorite airplane movie

The Airport series-from Jacqueline Bisset messing around with Dean Martin to George Kennedy out-manuevering a F-4 and opening the cockpit slider to decoy incoming sidewinders...easy fodder for Airplane!.

Of course my favorite scene has to be when Robert Stack in Airplane as he walks through the terminal taking out all the Krishnas-reminds me of my dad's attitude toward them as he walked through LAX before they restricted them to quietly standing in one spot. Gets a laugh from my brother and mom and me every time.

There was some movie that had Keith Carradine as an acrobatic pilot that I can't remember the title of but liked...

I believe it was called cloud dancer- about the first outside loop being performed, I like it but haven't seen it in years.

Memphis Belle will always be good, The Great Waldo Pepper is the best, Some of the 1930'S WW1 movies have some good flying scenes.

oh yah S.A.C.

Aw, c'mon!!!! Gotta be Airport 75! I mean, those plucky FA's flying the jet after the pilots were sucked out, Erik Estrada hitting on the women, and Charlton Heston transferring through the hole in the flight deck?

Gotta be the best and most realistic flying movie ever...

;)

The Great Waldo Pepper?

Top Gun and Airplane by far. I think that new movie coming out (cant recall the name) should be pretty good.

.

Yup. That's it. Any of the AZ pilots recognize Deer Valley airport, and Falcon Field with all the old B-17, DC-4 and L-1049 firebombers that Globe Air used to operate? Also, the parts with the P-51 filmed near Scottsdale (when nothing was out there back then).

Isn't that the movie about Carradine having some disease or something and having a partner that's running dope ? I remember seeing that YEARS ago

Yup. Carridine is a former AF F-4 pilot from 'Nam. Flys aerobatics now, but has a disease where he can't handle Gs. Aero buddies of his that are former mil were getting hired to run dope for $$$ in Piper Arrows....specifically because the dope planes were being intercepted and forced down by a rival dealer that used an F-51 to intercept and force down the dope planes and steal the stash. Carridine gets hired to defeat the 51 pilot, and so the story goes on.

I have a few: Passenger 57; Iron Eagle 1 & 2 (interesting how they called F4's "MiG's"); Top Gun; Firefox; Airplane; Hot Shots; and I can't remember this one, but it was a TV movie, based on a true story about a man who got lost in a small tail-dragger (can't remember the type), and was helped by a 767 flight (everyone, including the passengers were looking for him), and he landed late at night in rain deadstick.

Turbulence part 2

ummm....j/k
c'mon people top gun rules.
empire of the sun was good, at least the kid liked airplanes.
hahah, Tuskegee Airman, what a farce, we all know black people can't fly

Tuskegee Airman, Memphis Belle, Top Gun, Airplane, Firefox, just to name a few, Waldo Pepper !!!!!

What was the movie about the Red Baron ( think it was him ) set in WW1, I think it was the Blue Max, maybe ????

No one has mentioned The Pilot, starring Cliff Robertson. I believe it came out in 83. Great air-to-air shots of the DC-8. Great low level flying over The Grand Canyon. Very accurate. Cliff Robertson is a pilot himself. He even got rated in the -8 and did most of his own flying in the movie. Check it out i you can find it.
