What is the lifestyle of a regional like?

Just out of curiosity. Is there a list available somewhere that has the upgrade time frame for all of the regionals?

I am obviously very new to all of this. Can somebody give me a breakdown of how bidding for a schedule works, and what type of schedule I might be looking at as I progress through my first couple of years... Assuming that I live in my domicile.

Being gone more than you're home. Expect to have minimum days off (12 at most carriers). Assume 18 days away per month.

Unless you're on reserve - but even then, gone more than home is not an outside possibility.

I'm the second to last lineholder in my category this month--I was awarded a composite (both reserve and trips) line. Here's the schedule. "RE2" means PM reserve (0900-2100 or 1000-2200 depending on their mood).

Credit is 88:50 on block of 53:41. 12 days off, some of that is self induced. Drought or deluge. Wasn't used on my reserve days thus far (first time in a while).

Yikes, a line with only 12 days off? Sorry to hear that man. The worst line I've ever had was only 14 days off but now 15-16 off a month is the norm and I'm still really junior.

I don't commute, so I don't really care that much. The real issue being the juniormost lineholder here is that you're going to be composite if you are "targeted" by PBS, but not "guaranteed," and PBS won't build you a line with the minimum required credit value—pairings already awarded to seniors/not enough pairings remaining.

Once that happens, the Company will assign you either pairings from open time, or reserve days at 3:57 credit/day if no legal pairings are available in open time, to get you to the minimum required line value. They need only observe FAR legalities, and may disregard everything else, in the construction of such lines.

Somebody please give me a breakdown of how the bidding process works? How easy is it to switch it with somebody if you need a specific date free?

You put in your preferences (or your line choice, if your employer doesn't have PBS) and if you're junior, the bid system ignores 'em.

OKAY OKAY...for serious.

Guy #1 gets his first choice.
Guy #2 gets his first choice from whatever is left over.
Guy #3 gets his first choice from whatever's left after that.
...
Guy #n in base, seat, and equipment, gets whatever is left over after ALL that.

Edit: regarding swapping, "it depends." Trading/exchanging/splitting/dropping trips is really only possible as a line holder. Depending on your company, and its work rules and information systems capabilities (as well as your relations with your coworkers), trading or dropping of reserve days is either trivial or next to impossible.

What is the RVS callouts at RAH? Would RVS callouts allow him to go another route and maybe make CLE or CMH (not sure what is East base wise, and not just RAH). Piedmont has Harrisburg right? Silver has Franklin (I think).
