Vision test for 1st class.

I just got my first class renewed yesterday at a different AME. The vision test was a series of diamond shapes with circles. Some complete and some not. I really had some difficulty with the test and barely passed. The nurse told me that this test was required vs the normal lettered eye charts.

Is this a true statement? My vision is corrected to 20/10 near and far according to my optometrist.

No it is not. It is an optional test. Find a different AME.

It was a last minute cancelation by my AME that forced me to use this place. I contractually had to get it done that day. Lesson learned on waiting until the last minute to renew.
