UPS SUX

Don't think there's any way to get looked at at this point...think they just started recalls. But if what I've been told is accurate, even when they're hiring having your resume walked in will do you no good. They interview based on a computer score. Once you get an interview, knowing someone can help, but it will not get you in the door. Or so I've been told by a couple of people I know who work there and who'd better be telling the truth! ;)

Rings true to me, I used to be one of those lazy union swine kicking boxes, and they were rather...extreme about nepotism and related matters. Once bitten, etc, I'd imagine.

That's them just being PC and not having the balls to tell you that they don't want to recommend you! OTOH, I'll recommend you here any day. We need more crazy check hauler who aren't afraid to fly through a rain cloud and get the jet wet.

Boris is a has been. I, on the other hand, still do it everyday.:joke:

I got flashed by a laser along with everyone else in the conga line going into 17L early this morning.

Do you regularly fly one of the feeder runs? If so, where do you hang out in SDF?

IMS, the only place to hang out is the plastic cafeteria just NE of the main prole-worker-exit. West of the "east ramp" and east of the "west". Many were the days that I trudged through there on my way home, and pitied the poor "lear" (back then UPS called anything that wasn't Boeing a "lear") pilots who were dozing in extremely uncomfortable-looking positions in the flourescent light. Recollections are colored by time, of course, but it didn't look like a place that I'd want to spend any time. :D

You'll find my lazy behind sound asleep in one of our private sleep rooms. Now if you or anyone else on the forum were going to be in the cafeteria, I might come down an mingle with the riff-raff and hired help.

You aren't just Whistling Dixie, there. I only had occasion to visit SDF's UPS facility as a Pylot a few times, and luckily for me, I didn't have to stay. I can't count the number of times that, as a marshaller (you remember them, the guys who are always trying to run you in to stuff), I drove up to some poor freezing bastards standing outside their broke-ass Lear 24 or MU-2 and promised them that the van was "on the way". Then shut the tug door and turned the heater up to "incinerate".

Our remodeled crew facility in SDF is actually very nice and as a visiting crewmember, you will be well taken care of.

Sadly, my Freight days are behind me. I won't be seeing the SDF ramp until I'm magically hired by Brown. Wait, unless you have an injured child who needs immediate attention! Knowing the boxhead manager ethos that'll happen sooner or later. If you see a PC-12 rolling up the south ramp in a hurry, remember to wave!

I occassionally get down there flying, but "the company" keeps me sitting in CVG for yellow most of the time. I'm mostly only flying into SDF, swaping aircraft out, and flying out of there these days. I also do a lot of flying out of MIA for brown though.

I've spent a lot of time in the new pilot lounges over the last few years. I can't complain about anything much! The recliners are not the most comfortable I've ever laid in, but they definitely get the job done!
