This is Sagnak bread and that is my hand so you know it ain’t Google. Ha!
When you make wraps (Koobodeh or Shawarma or whatevs) this bread is amazing for it. Light, a little crispy but meaty, the orange greasiness of whatever protein you’re using isn’t going to make it soggy.
This may be a really stupid question but if you have a pallet on fire that you think would down you, could you in theory, drop to 10k and depressurize, open a cargo door from the inside (hopefully the ULD on fire is right next to the door), unlock the pallet from the floor holders(?), put the plane into a 45 to 60 degree bank and jettison the flaming cargo? Before you tell me thats insane, a 747combi for SAA in the 80s or 90s had a onboard cargo fire, on the checklist it said to open one of the doors on the plane to vent the smoke.

Well, it’s really a moot discussion because on the MD11, and every other fleet type we operate...that I know of, the main cargo door operation is deactivated (via the air/ground switch) once the aircraft becomes airborne.
Besides that, I’m pretty sure the main cargo door opening inflight would create more issues than it solves.
The SAA 747 checklist probably was referencing the small overhead emergency exit door in the cockpit since, unlike many large jets, the side windows can’t be opened.

I just thought it was interesting that it's probable that killing the people on the ground could save more lives long term. That's on the FAA.
It's one of those ethical questions that should at least make you think. Because it shouldn't exist, yet here we are.
Like I said. Statistically, I have nothing to worry about. We do though.
And if you think all the pax actually take all their devices with lithium batteries out of their checked luggage, I've got a bridge to sell you.
