United hiring

I would think after 10 years you may have formed long lasting habits that might be hard to break

I don't see that as the case. As dispatchers we are always learning on the job and should be able to make changes in our work habits. I now in my case every office I have worked in has been different policies and procedures and you have to be able to conform to that office.

Really, it depends on the individual. I've known fresh out of school dispatchers to be very good, and know a few 25 year veterans who get lost on a jepp plate. It's basically first day, every day for those 25 years.

Yes and I would also say it has to do with training. It amazes me that most recurrent training doesn't touch on this. Its always 3 days of cramming in the FAA required. IMO the FAA needs to make recurrent a minimum of 5 days or have 2 separate recurrent classes a year of 3 days. Every company I work for just does the minimum.

Bad habits form and depending on checks can be missed. Same thing with checks it is only required to do 4 hours which can be extended if the ATS deems so but I can count on one hand how many times a check has asked me plate questions. They just assume people know how to read them.

I received my certification last October and have zero dispatch experience. However I do have vast experience operating a Heavy Air Transport category aircraft as a Flight Engineer in the Navy. I'll let you know how it progresses.

I think that's an interesting question, is a dispatcher significantly better after 10 years than say 3 years?
The Senior Dispatchers in your office would certainly have you think so. There are more than one who profess that more experience = fewer diversons. I have no comment on that particular matter

I have some questions regarding the hiring/interview process at United. I was hoping that someone currently employed by United could PM me. Thanks

My Jobpage still shows then as still accepting applications which was updated on Feb 24th. Does anyone else show something different?

Had a couple people come through the office today on their interviews. Make sure to come visit us on the floor if you have time.
