United FEB 2026

A quick note to all applicants. As you prepare for your upcoming interview and evaluation, I highly recommend dedicating time to review and study for the written assessment. There are many post in these forums talking about this, but please (PLEASE) study for the written.

The test is designed to evaluate core competencies essential for this role, and having a solid grasp of the subject matter will help you demonstrate in the interview your full potential. Please ensure you are familiar with the key concepts and technical knowledge relevant to dispatch.

It is difficult for us to hear that applicants we recommend are not making it to the face-to-face interview due to their lack of preparation.
Thank you for the reminder. Could you please share what materials or resources you recommend for preparing for the written assessment? I’d like to make sure I’m focusing on the right topics and studying the most relevant content.

Unless it was changed after I reached out to HR on 1/29/26, I was advised that I would not be eligible to apply again for another six months after not getting past the one way video interview.
Who did you reach out to in HR? Im trying to find someone to email to see when I can apply

Is this as brutal as it sounds
Brutal. You should try being the one teaching it. That's brutal.

Yes, the new hire program is a lot of work. I would fully expect the job to be a 60 hour per week job during the classroom portion.

Let me re-frame this a little. Do you know how much work people in the normal work force do to make the wage that we make? Do you have friends that are expected to answer work emails after hours? 60 hours a week for three months is nothing.

If you want lawyer pay, sometimes you need to do lawyer sh*t.

We dont get lawyer pay

There are lawyers who are paid less than a mainline dispatcher tho. The big shot ridiculously rich lawyers are usually partners at a firm or late career/high roller criminal defense types. A regular joe type lawyer is well compensated but not filthy rich. Would not be unfair to compare to an average lawyer at mainline especially after considering sunk costs and hours of work lmao. Most Lawyers work their asses off way harder than a mainline dispatcher does tbh.

I forget the exact email but it was one of the United recruitment emails that is floating around out there.

They also don't get to jumpseat on the flight deck jumpseat.

On year three pay, I made 20% more than the median national average a lawyer makes. So yes, we do.
Not a fair comparison, since that median is being dragged down by public defenders/state prosecutor lawyers. Would have to compare that to the median dispatcher salary, which would be dragged down by regionals and 135 flight followers.

The big law firm lawyers with the 80 hour work weeks have starting pay higher than legacy top out pay. Not that I would want that lifestyle.

This is my point. For the lifestyle we get and the pay we get working hard for 4 months is nothing.

I bring up the lawyer thing because trust me they ask me all the time how I got so lucky to get the job I have.

We also have dispatchers who chose to work 80 hours a week with overtime and trust me they make partner at a law firm money.
