There is something quite seedy about Sully and his media crave. I think his portrait in the garden
was a really big clue into Chesney's ego issues. Let's see at 3 million for this deal that means Sully
is going to make 1 million per minute he spent in the air that day. ;)
I'm hoping Sully retires. Don't think his head will fit into any cockpit at this point.

A pilot gaining and keeping national attention for doing something good seems quite simply to me to be a good thing. As Ernest Gann and Bob Buck aptly demonstrated, it's possible for pilots to humbly write books about their life experiences.
 
Funny you mention Ernest Gann. I just borrowed "Fate Is the Hunter" from the library. I saw the movie starring Glenn Ford and Rod Taylor and was very impressed by it.
 
I doubt the book will be about Sully's favorite fishing spots in western Kentucky.The book just might be a great read in regards to aviation safety,CRM and the entire industry as a whole. Ide buy it.
 
I dare say if I managed to successfully ditch an Airbus A320 in the Hudson, and managed to survive (along with the entire pax and crew), and someone offered me 3 million dollars to write a book about it....well I think we all know what most of us would do. As someone said before, let's be realistic USAirways sure won't do much...

Hey the octomom seems to be doing well, might as well have it go to someone that actually accomplished somthing like saving lives!

How about if he does 10 minutes of 'aw..shucks' and then takes the money? Why shouldn't he take the money? And what does 'humility' have to do with economics?

And hope he retires? Why? Seems as if you are having a problem with his successes. What's that all about?

Hell..I hope he and the rest of the crew make TONS of money. TONS...

Well said!!

A-rod can make 25M a year for taking steroids, why cant someone who saved lives receive 3M?

Also, I agree with a previous poster, I hope he gives a piece to the crew.

There were many factors that prevented loss of life that day.
Sully was one of many factors.
Hope he remembers that as he's cashing in.
Maybe he'll write a poem about it!?!?!? :D

(Btw I'm begging some media person to ask Denny Fitch about Sully and his media tour/book deal.
If anyone has the rocks to knock Sully off his self promotional pedestal it's Denny. ;) )
 
What is your problem?? Seriously! He did his job pretty damn well and people are recognizing him for it. Now he has an opportunity to put his fame to potentially good use and actually have people listen and, god help us, actually make improvements on this steaming pile we call a career. Nothing may change, but it's better than sitting on your butt being a monday-morning quarterback. At least he plays the game.

Quit being jealous. Go fly your plane and hope to god you don't ever have TRY to prove you're as a good a pilot as him.

Why do you hate capitalism?
 
I wonder if Sully and Skiles speak? If I were Skiles I would be annoyed by all the attention Sully is getting all the attention.
