TSA Pre-Check For Dispatchers

At American and Envoy there is a seperate CASS badge for dispatchers. We have an ID to get us into the IOC and another for CASS.

Correct, AA, Envoy and a few other companies provide CASS id's because the company ID's do not have expiration dates on them.

I would be willing to pay for pre check, those lines are usually short. I commute, too but for me, it's easier to jumpseat or ride OAL as opposed to company. I guess my question is, would I list on my company, get a pre check boarding pass, and then just to the OAL?

That's what I do. My company is usually my backup anyways.

Has anyone had any issues getting through TSA Pre-Check while jumpseating? A TSA agent told me today that "it has to be printed on your ticket, regardless if you possess a Global Entry card".

My understanding is that Pre-Check is a program by which security screening is expedited for individuals who meet certain eligibility criteria, and has nothing to do with crew members. Are you perhaps referring to the Known Crewmember program?

You can buy your way into Pre-Check by going through some background checks and paying $80 for 5 years. However the Customs a Border protection Global Entry program gives you pre check as well in addition to the customs entry benefits and is a better value at $100 for 5 years. One international trip and you make that $20 back in lost headaches.

But you have to put your known traveller number into the airlines system or it will not say precheck on your boarding pass. Just having the membership card does not get you through a precheck line, it must be on your boarding pass.

If i get global entry, do they issue me a new passport with that RF chip in it, or do I have to get the new RF passport first/separately?

It's all computerized on their part, but they do attach a little sticker to the inside cover of you passport.

Disclaimer: I don't have global entry, but that's what my friend has told me. He has it and pisses me off by cruising through customs while I'm stuck in line with the riff-raff, forced to rub elbows with the great unwashed masses.

It is linked to your passport number. They give you a card and assign you a KTN (Known Traveler Number).

They actually stopped doing the little stickers, you still get the global entry card but will probably never end up having to use it.

I always find it how hit or miss it seems to be as far as when I can use pre/check or employee line or not. Seems like it depends on the airport.

The airport I work at knows me and just seems to send me to pre-check anytime I'm through. At CLT, the TSA guarding the entrance to the employee line said she didn't think my SIDA badge would get me through since it's another airport SIDA (Still yet to get my travel badge). I got up to the podium and the dude let me by no issue. Two weeks in a row now actually...saved me easily 30min.

I know that when times are busy, TSA will shuffle people from regular lines into the pre-check line, which then backs up and slows line down drastically. I also know that some of my parents have randomly gotten pre-check when non-revving while not being in the program.

With the employee line, I haven't had any issues getting through with my CREW badge. They usually ask if I'm working, I just say that I haven't listed for jumpseat yet even though it's on my own airline.

That's what I do, never had a problem anywhere.
